Im sure you will get all sorts of info as to what you "need" but its you who will need to filter all the who-ha.
Sorry you werent on the WC site earlier, in the last 2 months there have been 2 ABR rack's sold.
Have fun in Moab when were you going?

A friend of mine has a WRT permit for the 14th/15th/16th of May I think. So that will be my first trail with the new Cruiser. I'm excited! Even though the WRT is not really much of a trail for 4-Wheeling...it will still be fun. I've done that trail once before, and had a great time.

I'm torn now though...I'll want to drive more than bike!!

I really need to hook up with the local LC people...the Wasatch Cruisers. Sounds like a good group. But their site doesnt appear to be up and running really.

Oh its up and running, Its a private site for paid members, you just need the OK to view it.
I do not have the authority
The reason I was wondering about the date was due to Cruise Moab, But its the weekend of the 6th IIRC

I figured that...but I tried to register a while ago...and still no response. So I'm just waiting on a response.

I won't be able to head to Moab on the 6th unfortunately...family coming to visit.

Does that group get together & do anything locally?

Or is it mostly trips?

This is bordering on chat, Not your fault.....
We have a run(2nd Sat.) and tech/social(3rd-4th Thurs) every month for WC, You are more than welcome to join us, That is why we are trying to get a nonmember section, The next run will be Cruise Moab, We just had a Tech. this last Thurs.
Like I said we are trying to get the site useable but when its Volunteer, you take what you can get.

Welcome aboard :flipoff2:

FWIW, you can purchase a center diff lock switch from slee offroad -- it'll allow you to lock your center diff whilst in high range.

(added a little tech back in here... :D)

Welcome Noob
A new Land Cruiser and so close to Moab. Can life get any better? I submit that it cannot.
Nice color, very eye catching. Even without lockers front/rear these bad boys are amazing off the beaten path.

I totally understand. No problem at all.

Thanks for all the info on the local club BTW...sounds like the perfect place to gather tech info and learn about my Cruiser!

I'm thinking that when I go for fixing the front bumper...I'll do a totaly bumper/brushguard upgrade kind of deal. .

No no on the brush gaurd. :frown: They provide limited protection only when hit from specific spots and actually multiply the damage when hit from any where but the middle.

Here is a small example of what a brush guard does

Here is a great example of what protection an ARB will give you.

I also read a post (forget who's) recently were he hit a deer on the highway and received no damage with the ARB, the deer was not as lucky.

Dealership

"You got your truck at a great dealership, several of the service techs there are Cruiser friends."

Which dealership is that? I'm moving to Park City in the near future and am always on the lookout for knowledgeable folks I can trust with my Crusher.

Also, does Cruiser Outfitters actually perform work (e.g. installing lift kits, etc.), or do they just sell parts?

Looks like a healthy contingent of Cruiserheads in the area.

Mark Miller in SLC has a couple of Wasatch Cruiser members as techs, both of them are very knowledgable on Cruisers. Menlove in Bountiful is our club (Wasatch Cruisers) dealer sponsor, 10% off and they have a parts guy that used to work for a local Cruiser shop years ago, so he knows Cruisers. I don't know much about Larry H Miller in Murray, though they used to have a bunch of wheelers working there, they still might. I get all my parts from Karl Malone Toyota in Sandy, they have some great parts guys, not sure about service as I have never had them do any work. All in all some great Toyota dealers in town...

Depends on the job & our current schedule. Lately I have been installing parts like mad, 5 80 setups in the last couple weeks. Though when I get busy on the retail side (selling the parts), I have to cay no to any intense install stuff (bumpers, snorkels and lifts are NOT considered intense, just SOA conversions, PS conversions, etc) :D

Very, I figure the Wasatch Cruisers have ~50 rigs, and only 1 in ~5 of my local customers is a WC member... now figure in all the guys that are not customers that I don't know about... there are ALOT. I meet someone new everyday, amazing how these vehicles bring people out of the woodwork

Wow! That is great info. Thanks Romer. I guess I never even considered that might happen with a Brush Guard...but not that I see it...it makes a lot of sense. I'll book mark that pic and show my wife when she thinks an ARB is too expensive!!

I picked up my Cruiser @ Mark Miller Toyota in SLC. Just got lucky really. I've always like the Land Cruisers, but doubted about being able to get into one. Went there last weekend to test drive some 4-runners...and ended up driving home in my new Cruiser! They said it was only on the lot a day...which is not surprising.

.

When my wife saw the accident, she didn't even blink when I bought the rear bumper. She even asked if they make one for her parents Buick (um No).

Originally she wanted to know why I had to spend so much money on a bumper. Now she thinks even cars that never wheel need one.

BTW - If you intend to wheel and need to show your wife why you need sliders . . . This picture worked for me. A couple of thousnad dollars of body work or sliders, hmmmmm.

When my daughter got a 99 4runner, we put an ARB Bumper and sliders on it right away. My wife was all in favor.

lol. Awesome. Thanks for the pic's. Slider's & bumpers seem to be solid investments!

I decided to add the slider and bumper info to the General section of the FAQ
