Found another case of oil wicking through a wiring harness. In this case engine oil making it into the ECM from a leaking VVTi oil control valve on a 3UZ-FE with roughly 260,000 miles. This solenoid is the same part as used on the 2UZ-FE. Just something to be aware of. Up to a few years ago, I never thought this was possible in Toyota-land.

Wow.
Is this from a 5.7L 3UZ-fe?
Any operational issues, noted before found?

2005 LS430 with a 3UZ-FE. The same VVTi actuators as are on the 100/LX470. The engine oil is wicking past the pins and then making its way into the ECM via the wiring harness. No real history about this car. A friend recently purchased it with unknown history.

Remarkably there were no issues with running and/or error codes. We happened to find this while looking for an ATM issue at a different ECM connector.

I may pull the plugs off my VVTi actuators and see if there is any oil wicking or not. Luckily they are quite easy to get to.
