enjoyed watching your build you do beautiful work. Hope to see it out one day when Im up north

Im actually in Utah now.....wasatch.
So I may see you in SE when it cools down a bit for my cold blooded body... September or october for sure.

Bronson is doing great, I have the drivetrain on the new frame and the body just got its final coat of paint.
Things are really coming together now.
Its the ROTM in the 60's section, if you have some time you should check out the progress.
It should be all put together by the end of the month.

Dropping my kids off at the airport this weekend. Their headin to LBI and crosswicks for 2 weeks with granma.
looking forward to getting some stuff done.

found a set of nissan 200sx seats....
They are super comfy.
Im headed to go pick them up and build some bracket to make them fit in the 40. I am very excited to get some comfy seats in there. I'll post some pics of the seats and mounting after I'm done.

I've been having a blast driving this thing. not so much power though. i may lean towards a V6 vortec swap here soon or maybe a 5.3???
thoughts?

Swap in a diesel, a 4BT maybe?

Thanks for the detailed shots of the rear axle setup! I added a Toybox and am going to do nearly the same thing on the 40.

If you end up going the Vortec route, when I was looking around for my 62 I was going to do a 5.3. 5.7s seem to be the sweet spot, but there are a lot fewer and prices go up.

I was given a place in Oklahoma that does really clean takeouts with ultra low miles. Look for a 2002 Tahoe and see what I mean. There was some combo in that 2001-2002 year range that was a mix of relative simplicity and modern.

(ended up doing a 1HZ/turbo, so that plan kind of went off the rails)

Hey man!!! I'm coming out to Utah!!!

Tom, this build is awesome!!! You know the only thing I don't like about it is that license plate cover!!!:p!!!!! Sept 11 is all I have to say!!:crybaby:!! M and T bank stadium baby!!:grinpimp: Anyway, I am coming out to Utah!!! I don't know how long I am going to stay out there, but I am coming out to pick up a 40. :bounce:I am super excited:bounce2:!!! I don't know where you will be at that time (prob. in the next 3 weeks) but I would like to swing by and visit. I am prob. going to drive my brothers FJ Cuiser out. It's pretty sweet. Trail teams Edition... I will rent a Uhaul tow rig then just tow it home... I will be working out the details.:hhmm:.. I'll let you know. Give me a call when you get some time. I'll PM you my number in case you can't find it... and yes the bumper is installed and looking sick!!! :beer::beer:

Well winter is getting near and i really need to button the 40 up for it. i still have to rebuild the doors and roof. The roof has some surface rust but nothing to major. the doors however will require some cutting and rewelding of new metal. I ordered all new seals for the doors, amby doors, roof and windshiels all from SOR...WOW...those guys are exspensive!!!
So it looks like the next few weeks will be cutting welding sandinding and painting....
Unfortunately I will have to drive this rig all winter. I sold my prized fj60 that I built up over the last 10 years. some of you know that rig...."TONTO" i will miss the 375 horses and will think of it often ...especially when Im wrapped out at 3,500 rpm's and doing 40 mph up the pass.
I'll post up some progress pics soon.

Wow,thats some serious work, looks awesome.I have a 60 box in the 55 and I really like it,other than the box I bought from Oinker is now leaking. The 40 has a sag,but have not driven it yet. Most think sags the only way to go,but I love my 60 setup.and very easy to remove unlike my sag which will require taking the front end off.Hurry back to your project.

Funny I got a gear box from one of his close friends......and it leaks 1 year after I got it. Yours leaked after 1 year too huh?
I really do like the fj60 setup for the steering too.

I have a few 60 pumps on hand....that means FREE! I know I can pick up a sagy at the junk yard for like 25 bucks. But I already made the special bracket to mount the TOYODA pump, guess I could remake a new bracket for the saggy pump. Damn you steveo!!!!

If you have them on hand use them, especially since you made a bracket already. I was just suggesting that if you need to buy a pump buy a sag.

I agree Steveo...I had the saginaw pumps on other rigs. Love them...cheap to replace and easy to find. Plus the toyota hoses screw right in. No special lines needed. Its funny I have seen outfits selling SPECIAL GM to TOYOTA PS lines as if they were specially made to convert a toy box to a GM pump.
Funny crap.

Well I finally got the hard top and doors (side and amby) completed. Just in time for winter. In fact the day i got it all finished....it snowed here the next day. Still have to replace the interior door panels as they are ripped up and haggard. I think Im going to replace them with some plain grey vinyl. Joanne fabrics here I come! I also need to get the headliner replaced too. Im currently looking at the $OR replacement headliner...it looks good and has the cut corners for easy installation. any thoughts on those headliners or any bad reports?
Heres a couple pics of the finished hard top and doors.
