Below are several pictures of how the carrier attaches to the rear cross member, keep in mind there are subtle changes that will occur from the prototype to the production model overall design, but the mounting configuration is basically the same.

SolidWorks detail passenger side rear view

Below is a detail of the AJIK carrier mounted to the passenger side as viewed in SolidWorks. Notably, there are a few details that are void- gussets at vertical member, hardware, hi-lift jack mount, and dust cap for spindle, but overall, this is a good representation of the AJIK carrier mounted to the passenger side will look like. The first batch is in fabrication this week to fill our initial orders.

I have a question about the design. Is the cross member the only point of attachment? There is no attachment point out towards the spindle to help support the load? Seems like when the wheel is swung outward that you have a lot of force leveraging on those four cross member bolts.

I'm sure you guys did a lot of engineering and testing but I was just wondering.

Nice product!

Thank you!

There are two additional attachment points located out of view directly behind the stop bracket, for a total of six attachment points between the lower arm and cross member that share the induced loads.

The carrier has been in review for several months, with stress loads modeled using SolidWorks then tested both on and off road.

Lots of time in front of the mill this evening, drilling and tapping two major components AJIK hitch plate and adjustable tire mount. Should have more pictures tomorrow as the carrier starts to take shape.

More of the same fabericating process this evening, getting closer to welding. Lots of cutting, drilling, thread tapping, plasma cutting and torch work. Included are Solid Work details of all three AJIK hitch plate options: Cross member, Blank and drop hitch.

Josh,

All the solid works pics you've posted are passenger side opening. Was that what everyone ended up ordering?

Ben,

Your carrier is 1 of the 2 passenger side carriers in production, the other 2 are for the driver side. The solid works detail on this most recent post are to highlight the hitchplate options requested by a member. I'll look to update the thread to highlight the driver side.

Picked up on fabrication from where we left it last week, bent the upper hoop, welded hitch plates, and milled the upper and lower arms for spindle and housing. Several minor details left for fabrication on track for powder coating next week.
