Hi Everyone, I am pleased to announce the release of our redesigned Slide Out Table!

The slide out table (SOT) mounts to the underside of the drawer and extends to create a work surface. This is incredibly useful for prepping meals, gear, cameras, you name it! The SOT dimensions are 16" x 23" when deployed, creating ample workspace. It is attached to the drawer with large aluminum brackets, secured with 4 total screws. These will ship assembled, so installation will be simply threading in and tightening the 4 screws. We anticipate most customers will be able to install in under 5 mins.

The structure of the SOT is provided by aluminum extrusions, attached to the Richlite material work surface. The richlite is held in place using 3D printed Carbon Fiber brackets. The assembly glides along its travel with the help of full-length, low-friction UHMW tape and is secured into the stowed position with a spring plunger detent. To keep the system rattle-free while stowed, we utilize a secondary mechanism that wedges the SOT firmly into place under the drawer.

The entire system weighs approximately 10 pounds. The SOT can be used while the drawer is in both the closed and open position, and will not affect the functionality of the drawer itself.

We are offering this with free shipping for the first 50 customers, get yours now! All of the pictures below are in a 200 series Landcrusier, but the GX will be exactly the same functionally/aesthetically.

We had another GX460 in the shop this week. This customer opted for a full Premier Package with sleeper and Slide Out Table. We love seeing the slide out table on the GX! having a work surface dramatically enhances the utility of the drawer system!

Love what you guys are doing and thanks for supporting this website.
One idea for you that could potentially set you apart from competitors is a drawer fridge side option (one side drawer, one side fridge) like we did in my wife's 200 series. People looking for a bed platform won't usually want a fridge on top of it, so the drawer fridge gives the best of both worlds. You can check out how I did ours on my build page (Builds - His and Her GX 460 Builds - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/his-and-her-gx-460-builds.1073592/ at pages 11-12). I over-complicated mine by having the fridge fit in a slide-out drawer itself with extra room above and behind it, but I am sure a fixed solution would work for most people.
Best of luck with your continued success!

Thanks for the feedback! I am very familiar with your build page, feels like I'm talking to a celebrity right now! haha

We are absolutely planning on offering a drawer fridge option. You are 100% correct about the sleeper/fridge challenge, and we have been kicking the idea around for a few years now. We have had at least one customer place that specific fridge under an SS1 platform, and it seems to be a great fit. We are planning on that offering making the 2022 project list.

Our general thought is to package that with a battery, DCDC charger and a simple means of incorporating it into vehicle and solar power so that it would be as plug-and-play as possible.

That looks great! But what's up with the blue carpet?
With all due respect, I mean, it all looks good but does it match anything?
Or was it a good deal? (which I could totally justify!)

It's my wife's car and she wanted some color. I showed her swatches of marine carpet and that's what she picked :meh:

Hi Everyone! It's been awhile since we've checked in here on this forum, just wanted to show everyone a recent install we completed at the shop. We always recomend the Exped Megamat Duo for use with the SS1, seems to be a really good fit all around. Just wanted to show what that looks like when used with the SS1 in a GX460. Comfy!

Reserve Your Birch! Global supply of Baltic Birch, our primary building material, is threatened due to world events. Place your order ASAP to reserve materials for your builds this spring. We have multiple alternative materials, but ALL of them will result in a price higher than current prices.

We have some material on hand, but industry chatter says nationwide supply may be completely gone soon. Lock in your system now while we can hold our current pricing!

Well ain't that gonna be a son-of-a birch!!

Great looking system. I have a 2022 with the power folding rear seats. Am I correct that this will fit my GX460 once I pull out the third row?

Yes, definitely. We installed one recently in the shop. The power folding seats come out just the same with the exception of the extra electrical connectors.

We even have a how-to set of instructions for pulling a powered 3rd row from your gx!

Love this product @Kyle Bell !

One important difference I notice between this baseplate and others, is yours appears to sit directly on the floor. So the top of the plate is roughly flush with the top of the crossmember behind the second row of seating. Saves roughly an inch of vertical height.

To make that possible, what was your solution for avoiding or moving the key fob antennae (black box and wiring) attached to the cargo area floor? Thanks!

Answer: fancy machining! We machine a recess for the box into the bottom side of the floor. Fits like a glove. Our GX460 floor plates actually have a lot of machining in the bottom. We carve out areas for the antenna box and many contours of the outer edges. This allows our floor to sit as low as possible and avoid rattles.

Building on what Andy said: Here's a picture showing just how complex the underside of the floor plate ends up looking. We have a multitude of features machined into the plate, plus strategic placement of spacers to provide a rock-solid foundation.

One critical feature to point out: absolutely NO WOOD is used in this floor plate. This is all made from HDPE and utilizes stainless steel hardware, maximizing the lifespan of the product. We did not want any wood in contact with the floor. We have pulled wood-based systems out of vehicles before and seen mold... not something you want in the cab of the vehicle! Combined with wood's tendency to shrink/swell with moisture, we went with a fully HDPE system.

Hello Everyone,

AirDownGearUp has been selling a storage, sleeper, and drawer system since 2017. We started with the 100 series Landcruiser, and have since expanded to the 60, 80, 200 Landcruisers, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Gen 4runners and somewhat recently the Lexus GX460. We are now ready to put together an offering for the GX470 and wanted to get this out to this forum for feedback!

As a brief overview of the SS1; it is a storage+sleeper+drawer system. The drawers are full-extension, ball-bearing, lock-in and lock-out. The system is comprised of CNC cut Baltic Birch (for now!), with recessed mounting hardware and fold-up wings to retain access to the side cubbies. Details can be found at Air Down Gear Up - https://www.airdowngearup.com/

We were able to get our hands on a GX470 to test fit a system, and this looks like it will be pretty close to the GX460. I've included a few pictures from the test fit. The GX470 system will consist of a structural 'anchor bar' which is bolted directly into the vehicle d-ring mount. The drawer system is then attached to the anchor bars. This creates an incredibly robust system, with no movement whatsoever. The sleeper deploys onto the folded 2nd row, similar to our Landcruiser offering.

The pictures below show a 460 system 'dropped into' a 470. We will be changing the side-wings on the 470 to run the full length of the platform, and will make drawer faces that match the 470 contours more specifically, but the core system will be the same. I have also added a picture showing the drawers in a 460, which like i said will be similar but with different faces.

What do you think!? let us know, we are excited to start serving the GX470 crowd! We are taking pre-orders on the website for the GX470.

Exceptional quality product! love the one I bought for my 100 several years ago.

Can also vouch for the comfort of the REI Exped mat on top of it!

New product alert! We are happy to share our newest product, the 'Dedicated Kitchen'.

This robust and expansive product allows you to mount a fridge on top, store a stove or other shallow items in the middle and prepare food or set a drink (or twelve!) on the Slide Out Table below.

The Dedicated Kitchen includes three stages with a total of 89" of extension.

Stage 1 (fridge slide): This is intended to house commonly available fridges. The entire surface extends to provide access to your fridge outside of the vehicle. It has 36inch travel locking slides with proprietary Air Down Gear Up stainless steel ball detents to hold the slides firmly in place when deployed. Additionally, the detents sound awesome when being cycled; we haven't yet tired of hearing them! Tie-down provisions are included with 1/4" aluminum rails front and back, allowing common straps, brackets, etc. to secure your fridge to the system. The floor of this stage is made from textured HDPE and is impervious to liquids.

Stage 2 (stove tray): This is a low-profile tray that is intended to house a dual-burner stove. 30inches of travel on this stage provides great cooking space for your favorite camp stove. Proprietary stainless steel ball detents are used to help this stage stay both closed and open. The internal space is 32"x13.25" and accommodates most available camp stoves on the market. Height is 4.25". The floor is made from Richlite with a heat resistance up to 350F!

Stage 3 (slide out table): This is our existing slide out table slightly adapted to interface with the kitchen module. It is 13.75" wide with 23" of extension and made of Richlite with a heat resistance of 350F. This creates an additional work surface, which is hugely beneficial during meal prep, (and any time really!) providing a surface for plates, utensils, etc.

Purchase this Dedicated Kitchen as a standalone item or as an upgrade in place of one drawer in a Premier Package system. In either case, the Dedicated Kitchen mounts to our vehicle specific solid aluminum anchor bars

All of these stages can be used independently, you can use each one individually, extend the entire system out, or any combination as your needs dictate. We put together a video providing an overview of the system, linked below. The pictures below are from a Landcruiser and a 4runner, but it is the same system that would be in the GX as well.
