Air Lift 1000 Install

Mine will hold at 5 psi but I finally got around to checking the installers work. Check this garbage out. Page 4 of installation guide says remove bumps stops. Before I run the installer into the ground by naming them I am giving them a chance to correct their evil ways. Pure unadulterated incompetence here

As long as they keep air while using them it's no big deal to keep them uninflated

It could be a big deal because you no longer have bump stops....

I'm looking to alleviate my AHC pressure when loaded with a set of bags, trying to piece together what I will need. Has anyone wired them to a controller like this? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001B4ORZS...TF8&colid=25Z2847ETRVBX&coliid=I1E4Q98WV9PEJE
I have an ARB compressor under the hood already, maybe add a 1 gallon tank like this http://www.amazon.com/Viair-91014-G...qid=1434029169&sr=1-4&keywords=viair+air+tank
It's just a pneumatic control so I could run a line from the compressor to the tank, then tank to the switch, and on to the bags.

Those aren't the bump stops, and technically, you're supposed to cut them and leave the top two sections.

My Airlift 1000 instructions said to "remove" the bump stops. Didn't say anything about cutting them....

You are correct per the AirLift instructions. I was going off memory, and the Firestone Coil Rite bags say to keep the top section of the bump stop in. When I ordered my first set of bags from etrailer, I ordered the firestone bags, and they came in a FS box, but had the red airlift bags in the box. Not sure that the soft bumper inside is actually going to keep you from bottoming out though.

There are other bump stops on the frame above the axle. I'll probably never flex the rear axle enough to hit those stops. That kind of spring flex is performed by the 40 and 60 series I have. I'm just trying to keep the ass end from sagging with my 400 lb tounge weight on travel trailer

Ok, they fixed them and have them installed properly so I am somewhat satisfied. However when I dropped the truck off I explained to the store manager the problem about the first store claiming they threw the bump stops away when I asked about them and then found them still mounted to the truck. Today I go pick it up and the second store really did throw them away. Well I keep all my stuff and told him I wanted them back but they were gone. So he is getting me new ones from Toyota in case I want to go back stock. All it would have taken was some communication from the service writer to the shop and this mess would have been prevented. What a cluster fxxx.

So now that I can use them I am getting conflicting advise, even from airlift customer service. Do I weight the trailer on the hitch and then add pressure (from min of 5 psi up to max of 35psi) to attain a level ride? Or do I pump up to 35, then add the trailer and deflate to the ride I want? Or somewhere in between, like pump them to 20 psi and then add trailer? I'm looking at a tongue weight of 350 t0 475 lbs, depending were I load the interior of the trailer.

My buddy uses a bike pump too. We were surprised how few pumps it takes to get to 20 psi.

I too use a bike pump, works great. However, I just got back from wheeling and towing and broke my 2nd bag on the passenger side. Guessing its way too late for warranty, but getting tired of having to replace them. They break at the mid seal. Anyone have a Firestone break?

Does anyone know the dimensions of the coil spacers for 100 series rear? They are primarily an Aussie item, overly priced with horrendous shipping costs. I can make these things myself.

The 30mm ones I picked up from Slee weren't that much. Like 60 to my door. What size are you looking for?

Do you mean OD and ID? I'll see if I can find something. Many vendors sell them state side, 80 series rear spacers fit 100s perfectly. I have 30mm 80 series installed for $42 iirc from MAF with 2 day shipping. Just found the invoice, add S&H to $58.
