I have an entire extra EFI intake, my plan is when I pull my engine to have a port drilled and tapped in the lower half of the intake, in the coolant channel. Can't remember exactly where it was, but I did find a good spot to put it.

You can get metric adapters from places like PepBoys. That is where I bought mine. What engine do you have? On the early 22RE there was a second location below the factory sensor. On later manifolds this location was not there.

The pic is my setup. The top sender is for my Autometer gauge and uses a metric to 1/8" MPT adapter. The lower sender with the blue connector is the factory sender, relocated.

Using LC's thing, you don't get an actual engine temperature. I had a bung welded to my manifold right below my T-stat. Honestly, it's a pita.

I'm not sure I like this. What if the thermostat sticks closed? Then no coolent is running through the hose to the radiator, and you could cook your engine and not have a clue.

For the reason above I think you are right. The sensor needs to be in the coolent stream next to the engine.
