Anyone tried to remove the rear garnish? Does it have clips?
It does have clips. The fsm shows how to remove it.
What if you did some black vinyl over it and then cut it? I don't do vinyl, so not sure if that would be the correct method for doing it or not.
Also, with the plastidip... Same thing. Cover the whole thing then go back and cut out the letters and then peel off the plastidip off the letters.
As for the FJ40 4 Wheel Drive badge, I have one on my 200 on the rear tailgate. That is it in my avatar.

I'm not particularly fond of the chrome trim piece on the rear liftgate.
I suppose the trim piece could be removed and color matched. If the raised lettering were knocked down as part of the process it could even be affixed with emblems from an earlier series (e.g. 100).

I really like that better than the stock one. But a cheaper solution would be better.

This is super easy on dip - with a toothpick or similar. Just be sure you have +3 coats so it peels cleanly.
Can u post them or only dealer has access?
I do have a connection for print and wraps this would be pretty easy. Might go this route.

Thanks. Double sided tape and 4 clips. It's a tight fit to get anything behind it and pry it up.
The predisassebly instructions said to use a heat gun and piano wire.

Yep. Double sided tape. I would use dental floss. Used that in the past to debadge vehicles. Works pretty well and not scratching of the paint. Doing some preheating will be key. Maybe a nice hot summer day project?

I agree with most and am not a fan of the all chrome piece. I think plastidip would be easiest way to paint and not have to remove trim, but my concern would be matching my paint to look OEM.

There are some pieces I might try and plastidip this weekend to cut back on some of the chrome. Just depends on what all I can get into this weekend. Ha!
Think I'm on the other side of the bling concern . Rudy Red LX570 with GOLD trim 
with the upgraded LX wheel finish. I did turn around once on a gravel driveway and my LX570 once during several days of rain was not washed and polished for several days. It's been on a few extended trips and actually set outside overnight. Previous Dallas Texas owner had it detailed by the Lexus dealer at every 5k service. . I think my baby is a girl, but she is like that MMA girl, pretty but a real badass.

I am getting this cut and masked for letters with my auto wrap guy on Friday. Black and silver letters if silver matches. If not may leave solid black.

Took some Plasti-dip this past weekend to the chrome on the side molding and also the rear plate that says Land Cruiser.
For $11 in material and some time, I like the look of both. Really like how the name plate on the back is now. And I am the suck at Plasti Dip, so it didn't turn out 100% correct, but enough that I think I might pay someone to actually paint it. Assuming cost is not on the high side.
