some of the yota wiring is not the greatest....in fact the diameter of some of the wires is problematic....when you later on want to do something "better"

I have an '85 FJ60. One of the factory does not work at all and the other sounds weak.

Susquehanna Motorsports has Hella Supertone 118 dba horn kits on sale for $31.53. I intend to buy a set: Hella SUPERTONE Horn Kit, 118 db at 2 metres. Low Tone-300Hz, High-500Hz.

Searched the forum and learned the FJ60 did not come factory equipped with a horn relay. I suspect this Hella kit will come with a relay.

I'm no good at wiring diagrams and much beyond (+) is hot and (-) is ground, so I could use some help on how to wire this Hella horn kit, specfically the relay.

Thanks.

Jim

I went with these Amazon.com: GAMPRO Eletric 12V 135db Super Loud High Tone and Low Tone Metal Twin Horn Kit with Bracket for Cars Trucks SUVs RVs Vans Motorcycles Off road Boats: Automotive They are 135db, little more umpfff. They come next week. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

My stock horns in my 89 FJ62 have been on the fritz for years and I am just now trying to solve the problem. Symptoms: No horn when pressing the steering wheel horn "switch". Intermittent horn sounding when I turn the steering wheel to certain angles and not hitting the horn switch. Basically no horn when I want it and horn off and on all day when I don't. I have redone all connectors on the horns themselves and cleaned the grounds on each horn. ???? What next???:meh:

Fuse is new and if the horn is going off too much I just yank the fuse but it also leaves me w/o flashers.

mobydick,
Pull your steering wheel cover off and install brass casings from your favorite small caliber (ie .22 or .17 HMR). Takes about 20 minutes and your horn contacts will be like new. This won't fix the old horns or wiring but it will fix the turning and getting horn issue.

Cool! I will do that and see if my problem is solved! Thanks. That cover just pulls off huh?? Here I go!

I forget how to take off the horn cover. There are threads on here you can find by searching that will show you.
