They do look like they would work better.

I didn't expect so much attention for this post. Indeed I've learned my lesson to never ever post anything about buying wheel locks again on this forum. Must be an oversight that I've not been booted out of here.

It’s all in good fun. As you can probably tell by the under tone, everyone here regardless of their own opinion would say it’s your truck, do what makes you happy and comfortable. Heck, I bought my 2010 new, and I still park my truck in the far reaches of the grocery store parking lot, away from other cars and shopping carts and walk. It’s my truck and if it’s gonna get dinged by god I’m gonna ding it! Enjoy your trip, and hope you sleep easier!

Heck, I even took the wheel locks off my Viper. Pain in the butt, those things are.

The comment about the Rock Warrior lugs is spot on - I think you would be hard pressed to even jam a socket on those lugs, the bore in the wheel is tiny.

Late to the party but that infomercial is a bit of a joke. If anything a properly forged and heat treated alloy could be made harder and tougher than a CNC'd billet. They didnt talk about what grade of steel, what hardness, case depth, nada. Promise you could jam a 12 point chrome socket on there and get those off in no time flat.

Are you saying the spline acorn lugs with the tapered seat work on factory wheels designed for the big washer? Or they make a splined version of the washer lug?

Anything with a tapered seat will DEFINITELY NOT WORK with wheels designed for lugs with the big washer.

The ones pictured on the website definitely will not work, and the OP said he called the company the LC200 version will be available soon.

Brain cramp on that one...

I have mentioned before about how Rock Warrior lug sets come with lock nuts (which I despise) and how it’s worth buying additional nuts to dump the locks... -Also noting how the need for spline adaptor serves to help reduce the theft rate.
-But that is for Rock warrior wheels...

I have. Twice. Both in SoCal. I live in Idaho now... with a gun.

Along with those, I've had stolen: 4 car stereos, a truck (same truck - 3 times), a set of drums (from a church), Christmas (during childhood - home break-in), and most of my sanity due to having 4 grown kids. Keep this in mind if you are around me.

The problem there is CA.

I lived in Silly Valley for 4 years. I had my window broken even though the window had a label "no radio" on it, and the radio itself was in my apartment at the time. Sigh.

In my case, I called the police when it happened and they actually caught the guy.

The only theft where the thieves were caught was the Christmas. They were stopped for a traffic citation, and the cops saw all of the Christmas gifts in the back and got suspicious. I found out that year that I was supposed to get the Star Trek little flying Enterprise that went in a circle... but it was broken, so I ended up with the little figure 8 two car race car set. (late 70's era)

SoCal sucked for other reasons too, but that was a big one for me. Loved the mountains though...

Tech - I have the standard wheel locks. Never have I liked them. On my new to me 200, they will probably go away and be replaced by standard lugnuts like others.

It would seem to me that the easy way to defeat the Advance Wheel Lock is to just weld a nut on the end of it. Ya, I know, not many thieves carry welders with them, but how long till Milwaukee comes out with a portable cordless welder?

There are more factors at play than what I stated. I kept it short for brevity. The reality is things are stolen in "safe" neighborhoods. In my little town that used to be mostly free of crime, is now experiencing a lot of theft to cars, things in garages, and car break-ins. I've read about people having their bike racks stolen off their vehicles at bike trails where it was assumed everyone played by the rules. Someone stole my favorite 4'x7' Fed Ex cardboard in front of my garage in broad daylight WHILE I WAS IN THE GARAGE and there were other people around. While we were in our vehicle in a very quiet low-key neighborhood, my family was hit TWICE by a road-rage driver. At the ski resort in Breckenridge where supposedly everyone is happy and nice to each other, someone stole a floor mat out of my car WHILE WE WE WERE LOADING UP OUR SKI GEAR.

There are evil people out there. My goal is to influence them to move on to the easier target.

People suck. I’m curious to hear your feedback on these locks - and genuinely interested what they look like installed.

I worry I’m re-opening a can of worms here, but how do all of your anti-wheel-lock people feel about these locks on the spare tire that has been moved up to the swing-out on the rear bumper?

Still a bad idea in your opinion?

I hate how it’s so on-display and not even a jack is needed to take it. Just three nuts.
Especially once I replace usual spare with a bronze wheel so as to match my other 4 heritage wheels.

But then, the stories some of you have mentions about the “key” failing give me pause.

Maybe a combination bike lock is better?

And yeah, I get that nothing is fool proof. Just looking for ways to get the criminals to look for easier prey.

I worried about this too, I ended up just putting a cover on it, some generic canvas number. I run the methods and have the 5th for a spare, figure outa sight, outa mind. Not foolproof by any means, just a simple solution.
