This thing 22re FI 198? engine with FI in a 86 with none of the electric stuff hooked up except for the injectors. is not running . I adn=justed the timeing and the throttle body adjust ment screw to get her going. The throttle body adjustment screw is nearly backed all the way out. and it still runs rough and will not start ... I adjust screw and timing and it will run then a few hours later no run.. HELP

thanks for any input guys.

Air flow meter and TPS are required. I once forgot to hook the AFM back up and the truck would not run.

Key words in the quote. Hook up your stuff, then try it. The truck will not run with injectors only. It also needs the sensors hooked up.

the only sensors are the O2 sensors.

I saw a 86 on the box behind the passenger side plastic piece.

I have it running but she don't purr no more....

where is what is the TPS?

there is no place to connect any other wires in there..

I am not throwing any codes...

first off you need to get this truck to some one who is familiar with the 22re 4runners!
the tps=throttle positioning sensor it is on the throttle body!
and the box that says 86 may not work with the 84
there are a bunch of numbers and a bar code, they all have to match the original to work!
and the original well if the 86 stuff was used then you should be golden, if the 84 stuff was used you might be in trouble!
how do you know it does not have any codes? did you find the diagnostic terminal?

i live in no mans land it would be 60 miles i way to get this thing some where and a motel room.. really that is the way it is out here.... pretty remote and they like merican made trucks...

Anyway...

the only elect thing under the hood are the injector/system.

there is nothing else to hook any wires too.

I know it will not run at all without the Air Flow Meter hooked up. You can make it run without just about every other sensor, but it switches into a default mode and won't run well. Other things you'll need:

O2 sensor
Water temp sensor
Throttle Position sensor
Knock sensor
Cold start injector

But you need to check the codes if you can, they will tell you what's wrong. Treat the problems, not the symptoms.

ok D here is the tps!

Water temp sensor replaced new

this thing was running good untla last week the starter went out and it would not adle anymore. zzzzi do have it up snd running it just needs to be running better.. zi did replace the rotor cap, button and wires.

Or you need to sit down and study Toyota fuel injection systems

What 88 said. You have the following sensors, off the top of my head:

  • Ox sensor, on the exhaust manifold
  • Throttle position sensor (TPS), on the throttle body
  • Air flow meter (AFM), on the air box
  • Thermo sensor, on the thermostat housing
  • Cold start time switch, on the thermostat housing
  • Knock sensor, on the block near the oil filter

You will also need to hook up the cold start injector, and probably a few other things I'm not remembering. Also, make sure all three connectors are plugged into the ECU.

Your harness should have connectors for all of these. If not I don't know what to tell you. They are all necessary.
