Seems suspect, @red66toy @Cruiser Cult
you started this thread in 8/2021 and they patented your idea in 2/2022. That's some BS

Ahh it looks like they filed in 3/2021 but they only have an application for 80 series for Toyotas but their design differs significantly from yours.

Seems to me that your design is superior and significantly different enough perhaps they could only be marketed for the 40 & 60 series

Yes, that's the one I found online before revisiting this thread. Their design's different from yours but the patent language covers both theirs and other potential designs (including your design). What's interesting is that some of their products for Jeeps, 4Runners, Chevy and Ford pickups resemble yours while others don't 🤔. That said their mount for the 80 is completely different to yours so this is where the broad language of their US Patent looks to have been the end of your product.

I recall my university International Business professor talking how businesses/lawyers who know how to write a patent submission have used the US Patent office to kill competition. The best example of a company using the Patent office against competitors and non-related businesses is Monster (cables) - they've even litigating small mom and pop businesses just because their name included "Monster". This is why I've never bought anything from Monster for any home or business systems.

@S.CarolinaFZJ80 I got your patent pending rubber duckie right here for ya

It was a hard pill to swallow. We tried to fight it as much as we could. But in the end they were somehow able to make their patent general enough to cover a lot of configurations (regardless of vehicle manufacturer). We are a small business and don't have the resources to really fight it unfortunately.
We agree that ours is a better design but it is what it is at this point.

Thank you to all our supporters of these mounts. I hope all our past customers are enjoying them as much as we are.

The kicker is it's your design used on every Jeep model, Ford and most others they offer but curiously not on their version of a bracket for the 80 🤔

Regardless, it's the Monster Cable tactics of shutting down competition vs letting the market decide.

We thank you too. Here is their recent response to my question below. Not helpful. They’re definitely not getting any of my money.

I asked…… “ Think I can squeeze Baja design Squadron (3”x3”x2.8” deep) on knuckle pod mount for 80 series Landcruiser. Photos look like it could work.

Their response……”That would be up to you to find out as we don't have one here to test on anymore. We only recommend a 2" light for warranty/guarantee purposes.

This looks like a really interesting solution for adding adaptive lighting to the solid axle cruisers! I've been wanting to do something similar and the bracket design looks quite robust. Are there any details on the mounting points used and what kind of adjustability is offered? Thanks for sharing this!
