Well with you being close to Portland you would be in the perfect spot to go get you kit or adapter or what have you in person. I only recommend parts from him you you are close enough to go get them your self.
I didn't think of proximity. I'm close to a couple of vendors that make great products but seem to have terrible customer service.

Yea I know there is another guy here on mud that was within 5 hours and was able to go get his parts all in one shot no problems from Dustin.

And this was not meant to hijack the thread, but to be used to help with the group buy. If I had a local guy that was able to stop in keep Dustin honest and on track it would make me feel way better.

I personally would love to see a group buy come to fruition, even though it won't benefit me as I already have the adapter. It would be good to see more rigs with this setup out there.

As far as dealing with Dustin, I agree it gets frustrating when parts aren't delivered when you expect them to. I have dealt with this myself. As of yesterday I now have received every piece of my kit, the wiring harness was all I was waiting on. I will say that I do not beleive there is anyone that has been burned by Dustin, the frustration is limited to extended delivery times, no one has lost any money to my knowledge.

As for this group buy, I can tell you that Dustin designed and turned my prototype adapter around rather quickly, this was not one of the parts that I was waiting long for. If you are in the market I say get on board.

So did you get pricing from Dustin for a group by of 5 adapters? Before anyone gets in on this we kind of need to know a firm price. If it will indeed be $500-600 then I will be in. But we need to get all this sorted out before any money moves. Also with this adapter does it have a provision for the low range shifter? How does the shifter get attached to transmission or body?

The adapter plate does not do anything for the shifter. I have the exact dimensions in some other thread, but the important number is the delta between 1FZ-FE + A343 and 6BT + NV4500 + Adapter. The latter is 5/8" longer than the former (stock). This means that the shifter linkage will need to be extended 5/8" for the xfer case shifter to sit in the stock position.

Subscribed. Not interested myself, but am excited to see one of these setups get assembled.

Rember though the stock shifter bolts onto the transmission. I'm sure it would be straightforward to make something work but I want to know all the details before I put money on the line.

Yes that is true, some sort of bracket will be needed to mount the base.

He gave me a price range, which was good enough for the time. If we have a few of us that are serious, it would warrant going to him and getting an exact quote and delivery time. Even if we didn't have 5, 3 people are still good enough for a group buy, and in that case, the price would fall in between $500 and the listed $840.

We'll keep it open for a while to try to get 1 or 2 more. @mryanangel, keep us posted on your progress.
I am going camping this weekend, last hoorah for the 1FZ-FE, Then its time to yank her out.

I just got off the phone with Dustin, I needed someone to talk me out of switching my Cummins swap from the 97 to the 92 for inspection reasons. I am sticking with the 97 swap.
