Well, It's almost that time again. I spoke to someone at the Desert Center today and she said that the best time to come would be in a week to 10 days.

This year I want to make a trip that's geared towards taking photo's. I would still want to do a bit of wheeling, as long as were there, but I want to spend most of the time taking photo's and driving around looking for photo ops. I don't have any firm plans yet, dates, or duration of the trip. I thought I would see what interest is out there before I try to plan it.

So lets hear it. Anyone up for a wildflower photo run? Lets hear your thoughts on dates and if you want to make it a day run or overnight run.

Update: My inside source in AB says he thinks the best weekend to go will be the 2nd weekend in March (13th & 14th)

I posted this over on OAUSA as well, so I'm waiting to see what kind of responses I get before I try and set a date. But it looks like either Feb 27th & 28th or March 6th & 7th. No word yet on weather or not it will be just a day run or an overnighter.

Just got back this morning from 4 days in AB at an annual family event camping near Split Mtn. I'm in for a photo run either weekend.

Here are a few of the pics i took this last weekend.

The warning signs are at Lower Coyote Canyon. I went past two of them before I had to stop at the third water crossing and the final warning. Since i was solo I tested the crossing first by walking across barefoot and when the water came up to my waist I decided the warning was justified.:D

I was out at Truckhaven with the Beach N Toys group today. The ocotillos are just starting to bloom and things are real green. I would think things will really be popping in a couple of weeks.

I will be out there with the family, as well as the in laws in 2 weeks. I went out there last year and didn't realize just what I was missing at this time of year.

A prudent decision, no doubt, lest ye end up on youtube.

:D

I would still like to go. Is there any particular place in AB to see the wildflowers that is better than the others or are they just all over the place?

Went out to Coyote Canyon last weekend and the showing was incredible. Plus you get to drive through a couple of deep spots in the water and do a liitle roack climb as well.

I'm in! Thinking about heading up Friday sometime and leaving Sunday around noon. Where are you guys thinking of camping etc?

I might be game for a run on Sunday, my boy's little league and lacrosse just started so my Saturdays are booked for a few months.
