I've been trying to figure out how to fix the 340h automatic transmission in my 85 truck, with out having to replace it. I have succeeded, so here it is. It was skipping 3rd gear and going from 2nd into overdrive. I tested all the electronics, selinoids etc. I found nothing wrong. I found the answer on some other site's. The Problem was in the valve body. There are these small dumbell lookings parts about 3/4 of an inch long one of them was broken. Aparently there is another thing that can cause this. The plate inside the valve body has small holes that can get worn out and the small balls can't seal of the presure.

Nice truck, but what do they have to do with the transmission?

Not at all. While we do enjoy a pretty truck, the title of the post suggested some sort of tech related to an automatic transmission.

I see your point, I was going to do two different posts. my main point was to help anyone having the same problem I was having with my trans. That's the reason I chose that title. I should have posted the photos on readers rides. I was being lazy. Plus everyone seems to want to see photos of the rig in question.

the second owner did that, I believe he had the seat reupholstered along with the door panels , and new carpet. The last two owners of this truck where older guys like myself. They mostly just spent money fixing it up. All I've done is spend money on it also, fixing all mechanical issues , now it's done

This Truck is classified a DX model, I wonder if the a340h auto trans is common with that also the cargo light on the back of the cab and factory tinted door windows.
