For those of you who didn't know I was a K9 handler for several years. My partner Nitro saved my ass on numerous occasions working in the rural areas of the county where back up was always a long way off.(when seconds count the cops are only minutes away!)

When I transfered out Nitro went to my friend Jimmie. Nitro quickly adapted and became part of Jimmies family and his wife and kids dearly loved that crazy dog. He was part of the family at home but fearless on the streets. Nitro took down to manny criminals to count. He seized several hundred thousand dollars in drugs and alot of drug dealers cash. Nitro retired a while back and was loving the retired life. Unfortunately the years of hard work and literally going until he coundn't stand cought up with him and his hips failed. Jimmie and the doc's did everything they could but there was nothing that could be done.
We lost a warrior today.

Rest in peace Nitro

Human animal bond

When one knows a dog like the one Scott describes the definition of human animal bond seems unclear. They are one of us in so many ways, there loss is as sever a blow as losing any loved one. His loss will be noted and grieved by all and I will add him to the list of animals that have served and loved as man. Doc

RIP Nitro
