Lash is talking about the pump. You can run that pump with the mini box

Well John and I made an unsuccessful trip to pull a part today. Got the reservoir and hoses off but couldn't get the PS gear box due to rust and unforgiving bolts. There is definitely not as much room in there as the 40 to work. Maybe I will make another trip at some point but I'm sure it will be gone by then.

I'm ready.....what's another bloody knuckle? And I can get my shirt.

The minitruck PS gearbox is also used by restorers of old Ford trucks to add a little assist.

Borrow someones sawzall with 2 or 3 fully charged batteries and a few great blades and cut the pedistal under the PS gear. Deal with the rusty bolts in your own garage with some good penetrating oil and heat.

If anyone goes back to the pick and pull- would someone grab me the brake booster please?

I need it for my 85runner.

PM me if you can.

I thought the mini truck was supposed to be easier. Doesn't the Saginaw require cutting and welding?

Andy, general opinion is that mini truck power steering is a bit easier and is good for up to about 35" tires. After that you are not going to feel true power steering- more like power assist. If you plan to run larger tires you would want to go sag box. From your build I would think the mini truck set up would be right for you.

How's this coming?

Slowly. I painted the JRob Fabrication tailgate and rear quarter panel a few months back. Since then, just tinkering like putting on new visors and shift boots. I'm that guy that puts shiny new OEM parts on a beater. When I get a free minute to work on it, I tend to elect to just drive it around for a bit instead. Someday I will jump back into it full on.

I like your thinking. Just enjoy them.

Well it appears this is not going to be an easy fix, so I figured i would take it to my thread.

Like I said in the 40 thread, it died on me shortly from my house and would not start again. The engine just stopped while driving and would not respond to the gas pedal. Now I just here the starter turning over.

I poured about an oz of fluid into the carb with no result. I then figured it was a spark problem and called Greg. He suggested the ignitor. I have a DUI ignition that the PO put on and can't seem to locate ignitor. I am guessing he took it off. I couldn't find any loose wires that would affect the ignition.

Does anybody have any advice or does anybody with more knowledge than me want to take a look at it Sunday? It is on the street so at some point soon I will need to fix it, winch it up the driveway or tow it somewhere.

Coil wire come off?

I can't find the coil anywhere. The DUI doesn't have a top plug and I've run the other small wires back to nowhere or the tach.

Don't have a clue about the DUI. On my 40 the coil sits on top of right side of engine bay. I always knock it loose when I check my oil level.

Remove the two bolts were my thumb and finger are. That should be the coil. I believe it is a coil from a 84 Chevy monte Carlo. Hope that helps

Awesome thanks. I would never have looked there.

Well that didn't fix it. I picked up the coil at NAPA, and it was for a 84 Monte Carlo 5.0. I installed it charged the battery and it made no difference. I guess it could be the DUI. I remember Shush having something broken in his when it came. I'm a bit frustrated. I will try to test if there is a spark tomorrow if I can get someone to turn the key.

If the dui cap isn't on good and tight it won't spark. I'm guessing something in the dui gave up on you. Checked for current from 12v wire to starter?

Did u check the fusable link?
