@geanes what's the best source for staying up to date on openings/closures of roads around silverton (besides you, of course)?

There are a few groups on Facebook that routinely update. I follow the Silverton Community Bulletin Board, The Jeeps of Telluride/Ouray/Silverton (sacrilege I know), Hinsdale County Office of Emergency Management, Ouray Colorado Expedition Group and a few others. They update daily and have some great shots of workers clearing these passes. At this point, Cinnamon, Imogene and Black Bear are the only major San Juans passes left to clear. All 3 counties are killing it to get Cinnamon and Imogene open and then it's all-hands-on-deck for Black Bear supposedly. I have a few buddies that live in various areas around there who keep me up to date as well (Durango, Ridgeway, Montrose). My uncle also "summers" outside Purgatory resort. He is always up in the mountains and provides good intel as well.

This is good to know. We may forgo Cinnamon if 2 isn't open by 7/23.

You could still always roll over Cali and Hurricane down to 110 to get into Silverton. Those passes are very easy IMO. There is only 1 switchback on the west side of Cali that could be "fun" with a small trailer. Other than that, I'd have no problem towing my little trailer over those. It's a little longer route, but not terrible.

Yeah, I've done those trails before - both in 2015 in my 62 series as well as at HIH8 with @bluecruiser leading; it's more of a timing thing for me getting into Silverton - just ends up being a little longer day for the kiddos and I'd like to get to camp a little earlier in the day this year (compared to last year).

Thanks for the intel on the groups that you're following to stay up to date!

Apologies if I've missed this conversation, but... Does anyone have plans to caravan from Denver and/or hit Cinnamon Pass on the drive in? Looking at you @DirtDawg :)

I’ll be picking my Hundy from Slee on the 23rd. Wouldn’t mind meeting up.

I’m coming in from Denver, but we leave Sunday and will be hauling a big ass trailer. Going Glenwood Springs down through Carbondale and staying in Paonia State Park a couple nights.

I was just looking at the sched app on my phone. Is there any reason I can't see mysslf in the drivers directory? My profile is set to public.

Time for a full service and PM!

As @atnolan94 said, we will be hitting Moab/Canyonlands before hand. I'm bummed that I cant help get one started, but I will see you guys there!

Are you planning on making some runs this year?

Yup. Don't think the starter will fail this year (no jinx). But I am planning on keeping it chill: the wife is joining so if she's up to it maybe we'll swap up to some more technical trails.

Is there a way to see an updated map of HIH9 attendees and where they are coming from?

We are coming from Denver on Wed. Planning to get an early start towards Silverton.

That's our plan as well. Light out early Wednesday, maybe stop for a bite in Gunnison, head on down to Lake City and hit Cinnamon. Roll on into Silverton.
