98 LX470 lost keys ECU hack

I would also suggest buying sockets (they are also cheap) - solder the socket in just in case one chip doesn't work, then it's literally plug and play.

These are surface mount chips on a multilayer board. If they were dip style that would work easily

I tried using an EEPROM clip so i wouldn't have to desolder the IC900, but my programmer didn't have the juice to power the board and read the chip, plus it was a nightmare to even get the clip prongs to line up. I still have the program that I used to flash the chip if that'd be any help to you

Maybe that was my problem too, I'm not sure. I first tried using 5v from an old computer power supply. Couldnt get it to write without removing it

I would like to see the file you wrote to the chip.

Holy cow. Awesome work.

I would gladly buy a programed chip with instructions for chip replacement in my 99 LC. The nearest locksmith that even mentions Toyota/Lexus programing is 2.5 hours away and will not give me a price or estimated time for the procedure.

Right now I am working on getting the oem chips. I've got some chips ordered that I was told should be the same. My ebay ecu should be here in a few days. I want to program an aftermarket chip and make sure it works in mine before I send any out.

I knew that this only having a valet key was a pain in the backside for me, but I really didnt realize how many people have the same problem. I guess it makes sense, I've got 3 Lexus vehicles I've bought used and all 3 came with only 1 valet key. Hell, I even ordered a Chinese key duplicator that will pay for itself making keys for just my cars.

There is no reason that it should be so difficult or expensive just to be able to make new keys for our 18+ year old vehicles. It is a simple thing to do.

Of course now I can't find any of my save files, but I believe they looked similar to yours before I reflashed it without the old key codes. If I come across any old dumps I'll send them your way

Thank you. I'm pretty sure they are the same, I'm just wanting to see if there is any difference in different years.

This is great news, thanks for sharing.

I now have programmed eeproms available.

I have a spare ecm with no keys, what are my options to make it usable again?

Either have it flashed or replace your immobilizer chip with one of mine .

With the immobilizer chip replaced it will react like a 'virgin' new ecm , then just add keys with Techstream?

It's easier than that. When you first plug your ecu in it will be in auto registration mode. You just insert the first key and pull it out, then insert it again, don't turn. Leave it for 15 sec or so, then insert the next key. The first 2 keys will be registered as master keys. Then you insert the third key, it will be a valet key. If you don't have all 3 keys you can press the brake 5 times and exit auto reg mode. If you have techstream you can use it to exit also. Once you have a master you can use techstream to register keys whenever you want.

And to answer your question, yes it will be a virginized ecu

This is exciting. I'm in, send details for $$$.

I'm doing this for free. I've got 75 of these that I am wanting to give out. I can get more, it takes right at a month for me to get them. I will keep giving them out until I get sick of it or somebody messes it up. These cost me right around 75 cents shipped.

This is an amazing offer! Please, put me down for one if they are available. At some point, I'd love to see a video or photo tutorial of how to go about replacing these without frying anything important. Thanks so much for taking this on. There's a huge hole in the 100 series community for a solution like this.

Send me an address I will get one out to you this week.

I just made a couple of short videos, one changing the chip, the other registering keys. I'm lousy at video and this is my first how to. Maybe helpful maybe not. Just need to figure out how to post them .
