My 96 cruiser has developed a really bad torque steer. Any sudden acceleration causes the body to shift from the rear to feel like it’s turning to the left. All the bushings and suspension components underneath seem tight. Has anyone got any idea of what could be going on? Or what to check next?

Did you give your steering links a good shake?
Probably not the problem but it’s easy to check the steering for slop, and eliminate that.

Rear end shimmy is often a sign of worn shocks.

Check your steering arms and check your nuts!

You may be ready to lose a front knuckle!

From your description of left body lean, Did you check your sway bar bushings?

Check the front panhard tower (frame side) for cracks.

Agreed. It sounds like it's panhard-related. The panhard rods locate the axles side-to-side. If something is loose or broken in those areas it's like driving a piece of spaghetti.
