I've been off of 'Mud for a bit. Nothing really going on, just haven't been cruiser tinkering and trying to concentrate on other things for a time.

You've been rockiin and rollin Pell. nice work! You could have at least sprung for a shiny new 4x4 for the body mount shenanigans Geez!

I did the full ( 4 keychain) egr/pair delete on my rig. I'm not throwing any codes, but I feel like I am running a bit rich, and my milage seems worse than it should be (10-11 mixed highway/residential). Are the deletes and fuel economy related? I have no f-ing idea.
There's always a cruiser task to be done it seems.

Thanks, Mike. There's always more work to be done. I have the block off plates from WitsEnd, but I found conflicting information from various threads on what plates I need and what to block off. So far I have removed the EGR crack pipe and blocked off the rear left side of my head. I have O2 sensors in place of where the PAIR valves were, and I still have another WitsEnd plate remaining. Don't know where that one goes yet, but not too worried about it yet.

What are you going to do to address the fuel consumption and running rich?

Called the machine shop yesterday. Mind you, I called 15 different automotive shops around my area and nine of them referred me to the shop I chose. The other option I had was a man who has been doing this for several decades and he was my first choice. However, he was hit or miss, barely returned my calls and he only agreed to work my head as a side job on weekends. Anyway, he didn't respond when we were supposed to meet so I went with my choice.

Here's how the call went:
Me: Hey brother, it's me with the Toyota head. I installed my camshafts and performed the valve clearance checks and the #6 exhaust lobe is out of spec by .001.
Machine Shop (MS): Well, that can't be man, we ground the valves, tipped, lashed, ding, dang, do (something in country speak I didn't quite hear well) and everything was in spec.
Me: Well, I'm telling you it's out of spec. Do you have the measurements recorded so I can see them?
MS: Nope, we don't keep any of that stuff. Just bring the head back in and we'll take care of it.
Me: No thanks, I'll adjust by shimming it.
MS: Yeah you can do that, besides, .001 aint sh*t anyway. I'd run it like it is.
Me: Thanks I only called to let you know your head guy messed up ever so slightly and cost me time.

Anyway, I'm new to the area and there is a certain southern culture in these parts that I don't think I'll ever get used to. Sometimes I wish I was near major LC hubs to capitalize on the resources, but it's also nice being in this rural part of the country.

My goal of slinging the drivetrain in this weekend are dashed. Time to flex. I still have some wiring to tidy up anyway. Time to work.

I think you handled that well. Best case scenario. Worst case was to start a southern style fued.

Fuel consumption is directly related to having a heavy foot. I've talked to a few trusted sources regarding this issue.
I do need to pull a couple pf spark plugs for inspection, but the rich running "evidence" so far is just exhaust smell. I should probably quit dragging my feet on the exhaust work.

You seem to have avoided a "Hatfields and Mccoys" situation. Good on you.

This PHH is only 2+ years old. Gates green stripe. Bulging more than I’d expect.

Going back to Toyota OEM

Interesting to see on the gates hose. Good call on going back to OEM.

I have many pokers in the fire so to speak. I have this rebuild going on. Parts are trickling in. Still trying to figure out 37s, but that is cart way before horse right now. Purchasing parts for the 40th is ongoing, albeit slow. Renovating my home. Felling 4 each huge oak and cedar trees that are overtaking my domicile. New roof. Unfornicating years of extremely shoddy electrical patchwork in my barn, home, and other structures on property, and more. I have many contractors I’m dealing with and meeting. Several are standing me up and not returning my calls. They must not like money.

All that to say, I’m full of excuses and only got to finishing my engine harness finally and some other harness work inside the engine bay over the weekend.

This shît below ain’t right. I talked with @Malleus and he hooked me up with some knowledge. I bought new connectors and got busy. I ended up replacing three connectors and only a couple of wires. Used waterproof butt splices and adhesive lined heat shrink. Wrapped everything with heat resistant tape and wire loom. I’m glad these parts are still available. According to my parts dudes, only four of Terminal 82998-12470 remained in the states so I snagged two in case I screwed the pooch.

I cleaned and inspected every connector and removed old, brittle wrap. Everything has new high-heat split wire loom from Aircraft Spruce and is anchored with zip ties. Hopefully it works as good or better than before my HG shît the bed.

Your Land Cruiser hobby
has similar competition to my Land Cruiser hobby. I feel you! Hope you taught that onion a lesson!

Warning: Do not ever try to open up your AFM sensor attached to the air box. Everybody does it thinking it is like a MAF sensor for cleaning. Don't do it. If you remove the two screws holding the plug in, you will destroy it. Toyota doesn't make them anymore for replacement and finding a used one is extremely hard to find.
You have a photo of it in-place?

You don’t have one of these. These are for 93-94.
One less thing to worry about, thanks. I'm never sure which little bits cross over from the 94 and which don't.

93-94…We’re a special bunch.

I agree with your statement here. I researched quite a bit back in 2013. I was originally bent on an FJ60. Then I learned about the badassness of the 80. Back then we knew less about the 80 and much less support was to be enjoyed. I chose the 93-94 years based on the fact that it actually says TOYOTA on the front. Never mind the bus tranny, no air bags, an awesome dash, and the possibility of clothe interior.

Sure, turbo-ing is more difficult but I like my slow mule. I embrace what it is rather than trying to love part of it and make the other parts what a modern day car is. Who won, the hare or the tortoise? It’s slow and methodical but above all it’s persistent.

I really need to find some cloth seats that'll match the grey in my rig.

Good luck. My clothe seats came in the green 94 that I rolled back in 15. Now in my white 93 and still outstanding. You don’t mind paying gold prices for brake rotors so the price you will pay for clothe seats should be standard fair. Just a general announcement; I have a great 91-94 complete dash in perfect condition. It survived the roll.

Literally the only thing that you have ever said that I agree with.

😂😂🤘🤘💨💨
That’s a 747-800 load of disagreement right there…… And here I thought meeting you in person would have ushered in the beginning of understanding.

I didn't have a choice in the matter. I needed rotors. That's the cost.

And they're still cheaper than the $3000 I spent on a big brake kit.

It's less the cost of seats and more finding a set that won't look out of place.
