Dude, I love that bumper. I have the receiver on mine and everyday it just calls to me to do the same! Looks great.

a huge gouge I put in the stinger the other day
i have to say i'd never considered recycling the hitch receiver AS the bumper, it IS one stout hunk a steel!![]()
Nay said:You can recess it pretty far - really the simplest way to replace the stock cross member/bumper is with a hitch between the frame rails, and then you can add on what you want.
Since Darwink stole from me, I'll post mine(although I stole his carrier idea
)
Well fug nay, i've seen the tube on yours but never noticed the hitch... Derp. My bad, nice job to both of you then
Apparently I should read more mud, HTF is that going to be possible? Lol

My hitch came later so it was just tube for awhile - the tube is welded to the very top of the hitch, which triangulates the bumper. That's how we decided how far to set the hitch back, and I could weld in additional hitch to bumper bracing if desired.
It's a cool way to go, although tube is difficult to brace out on the wings so you don't bend it, and 80's like to hammer those corners.
Of course, that's where hockey puck bumper body mounts come in
OK, back to Darwink's grocery trip and his belief that throttling a 60 is better than crawling a properly geared 80![]()
Case of mgd today..... A Canadian drinkin yank beer, I know.
My 80 needs frequent body work (every spring) so bed liner would be a waste. I prefer the scuff and spray approach and have a couple cans of body matched paint on standby. The blue slate seems to blend really good.
As for the dt's, I didnt find they threw dirt and mud too bad w/o the flares but then again the po deflared it so I have nothing to compare it to. I pop my tacoma front mud flaps on the front of the 80 for the winter to reduce the slush build up on the doors but thats about it. Didnt bother with rear flaps this past winter and it did roost a bit but the 1/4's are cut so......
There isnt too much mud at the mall so Im not the best one to ask..
D
Yeah, the flares do make the 80 look wide. I think my dt's stuck out a half inch at most w/o the flares.
Decided I needed to be more politically correct since I drive a gas guzzling suv to the mall a lot so I did what I could to minimize my carbon footprint. Yep stole this idea too.

Case of mgd today
I also had a few retard moments
No no, lol. I used the 80 to fetch the case yesterday and wheeled the 60 sunday. The guys I wheel with frown upon drinking on runs so we save it for later.
