Thats kind of what I figured Nay. I dont plan on doing any rock crawling with this thing, just trail rides. I think itll be just fine for that.

For the hell of it I threw the roof rack from the 60 onto the 80. Looks ok and may be useful.

Planning to repaint the rear bumper wings and xmember/reciever sometime soon.

That would work good if the trail was local. In reality, the first decent trail is a couple of hundred miles away. Wish I lived someplace like you do, where the fresh air and great outdoors is just a short hop away.

Maybe if I ever get this dissertation done, I'll get a juicy job offer close to the great outdoors.

I think he ment air down to get into the garage... I used to have that issue. I would drive up to the garage, pull the valve cores and move to step 6.

You just need to remember to air them back up AFTER you back out of the garage.

Oh yeah, I caught the airing down to get in. I just can't see airing up every time I leave the garage -- and cruising the Interstate to the big box store isn't cool running with 12 lbs of air.

So after throwing the roof rack deal on I kept hearing a bad wheel bearing type grrrr noise and it was bugging the hell out of me. Since Im planning a camping trip this coming long weekend I was ready to jack the thing up to check everything out. This is when I noticed one of the roof rack bars was missing a plastic plug. I managed to find one in the garage (hoarding can be a good thing) and cut it down to fit. No more noise. Stupid little thing got me all excited for nothing.

Painted up the reciever/bumper corners the other day. Looks way better than the rusty greasy mess I had going there. Tried "rust check" primer this time since I dont feel like painting them again next year. Goes on thick but takes forever to dry. Topped it off with some duplicolor "effects" primer that I bought by accident when I did the front bumper and ended up liking.

For good or evil, the only people legally allowed to be prostituted in the good ol' USA -- outside of a couple of counties in Nevada -- are politicians.

So will have to do something else to discourage the light-fingered trespassers.

When you mounted the receiver the height you did in the rear, did you do it to make room for the brackets for your swingdown? If you had not planned for that would you have mounted it higher?

Honestly I just "unbolted" (broke 3 of the bolts that hold it on) the factory tow bar thing, cut the cross member off and sat the ends of the bar on top of the frame rails..... Im not really great at the whole planning things out thing and usually just eyeball and improvise. I like to refer to it as being a man of action but Im sure others would call it something else.

Today I did some body work and messed with the receiver a bit. Painted the skid plate under the front bumper and a huge gouge I put in the stinger the other day. Then I opened all the doors and painted the sills since they were orange and looked like ass. While I waited for the primer to dry I took care of some bubbles on the front fenders as well.

While waiting for the paint to dry I extended the factory receiver to match my new hitch. I put a round tube between the frame rails then ran a square chunk down to the extended part of the receiver and topped it off with some punch plate to hide the orange bits.
