That's what I went with. Good call.

Is this swap possible with an H55 behind the 5.3? In other words can it be done with a manual transmission? H55 or a Chevy variety. Thanks.

Yes it is. If you use an NV4500 the adapter then falls between the trans and T-case. It can also be done with the H55 I just prefer to run a GM clutch and pressure plate setup, nation wide parts availability being a key factor as well.

Great! Thanks. Was asking because i am currently in the process of an H55 swap and don't want to waste all the money I am putting in for that when it's time for you to do the 5.3. Thanks again.

Hey, I kinda like that!

Are those 33's?

Any chance you could activate your photos again? I know it's an old thread but doing this swap as well. I need header ideas.

Thank you.
Linked images from other sites (Facebook, Flickr, Photobucket) are often broken as those site go through changes. Hopefully the OP can update with direct upload images or one of the admins can fix the broken links on the back end.

Bringing this one back to the top in hopes we can get the pics updated! I just bought an '86 FJ60 that will be getting a vortec swap. Threads and pics like this are invaluable!

Can someone please answer a dumb question for me. I am in the process of vortec conversation on my 62 and i ended up using a Fitech harness and computer. I was under the impression that i could completely eliminate my toyota ECU but upon further inspection it looks that there are two bundles of wires plugging in to it that don't track back to the engine. Can someone please shed some light in this area for me. Thanks so much

Just unplug them, the ECU doesnt control anything other then the engine. You won’t get a CEL or anything.
