Anyone have a source for a replacement switch panel for the driver's side door on an 88 4Runner?

I've noticed the 88 door panel is different than the 84-87's and no one seems to make replacements for them. Saw a used one on ebay for $125.

Maybe I should buy some door panels from an older one and swap them in.

Yes I did since I remembered msahr bringing that up in my electrical reference thread. I am actually trying to follow through with an electrical vendor so I can give a better reply later.

You mean these, correct?

I found these recently IIRC the guys name is SwitchDoctor:

Amazon.com: NEW Toyota 4Runner 1984-1988 Window Master Control Switch: Automotive

Hopefully one of our supporting vendors like Lowe, C'Dan, or Beno can chime in with similar or better choices.

Also, given the interchangability of some electrical parts it's entirely possible you could source some from Spector Off-Road so long as you have a picture of what you need and tell Marv to find a matching piece possibly off of a Land Cruiser. (Last time I called for a restoration batch of parts like center caps he had no clue that what I ordered also is for mini trucks, etc.)

Short version, don't just limit your searching to Mini or 4Runner specific terms, you can also use Corolla, Camry, Cressida, etc that are from the same era. Cross referencing the Toyota Owners Restoration Club of America might turn up some good options since I know we recently found parts for auto windowed AE-86's that are the exact passenger switch pictured above. :D

7 pages of Toyota Specific Switch assemblies from Switch Doctor, look at the parts and you see what I meant about the cross usability: Amazon.com At a Glance: Switch Doctor

Note, yes, I rock! Now, I help for free but get paid for work. Online work is usually paid preferably in Boylan RootBeer, usually a 6 pack delivered to either myself or one of my cohorts like vipergrhd w/ my name on it.

**Mods, please combine the threads so I can keep this all in one spot? Maybe put it into the FAQ's under a different title or within the main FAQ under the other electrical stuff?**

I'll do some checking tomorrow. Best case would be if we can still get the original correct ones for the Runner. I'm sure there are some other models that have switches that will work if they're still available.

Hey NorCal, thanks. I contacted SwitchDoctor a while back and asked about pickup / 4Runner PW switches without the lockout function (in other words just the 2 switches) and they acted as if EVERY 4Runner had the same master switch. I have a 85 4Runner SR5 mine came pretty well fully loaded AFAIK and it doesn't have the same switch. Not really interested in cutting my door panel to use a switch that is wrong in the first place. Hmmm I wonder about a mid 80s 70 series cruiser with power windows?

Anyway thanks again. I'm about to just build a custom panel in the dash below the radio and mount different switches there.

Old TPN is 84820 MASTER SWITCH ASSY, POWER WINDOW REGULATOR and 84810 SWITCH ASSY, POWER WINDOW REGULATOR, driver's and passenger sides respectively. I'll try to dig around locally this coming week after I close up @ work to get the actual 10 digit #'s. I might also try to call up SwitchDoctor and ask them personally.

"85 trunner", I have both of those exact door panels with the switches still in them, but they are gray. Came out of my '84 SR5 pickup. I think I have the armrests too. It's just the window switches, no door lock button.

Those sculpted door panels that IslanderOffRoad posted are what I'm installing in mine, I'm also upgrading to power windows and door locks.

i have the same thing in the pic i put up, only 2 switch but its grey , i need the brown like in the pic so it will match my brown interior

All the colors are disco'd from Toyota except the gray. You'll have to track down a used one if you want it to match.

@Lowe- This is my 86 SR5 4runner. Are you saying that the switch only comes in black? When I bought the PS side, the gray bezel came with it. Will the gray bezel come with the DS switch?

Are you looking to sell those off? I may be interested in the panels and switches.
