Its time for me to pull the trigger on a paint job for my Baby and I’m looking for a decent place around Austin.

I’ve seen some posts about Jack from LCS, I don’t know if he’s still around or not. Would love to hear if anyone has any recommendations.

Let us know what you find.

Nothing?

I have a 74 FJ55, 74 FJ40, 88 FJ62 and a 65 Mustang that all need paint (and some body work).

Did you ever find a paint shop? I am based in Dallas but I take my cruiser to Land Cruiser Specialists in Austin but their painter retired...

I've found a couple local references, but I've not really gone to check anyone out yet (work life is busy.)

I believe you, I am a student and I feel the struggle. Any promising shops near by?

No dice for me, same as gonzo, just a couple of online recommendations from searches and then life got busy and we moved to Georgia. Best of luck!

For what it’s worth, I am planning on using Sterling Auto Collision in Dripping whenever I can save enough.

Joey out there is a good guy. They’ve done amazing work on some of my past cars. Their shop does high end sports cars so they do have attention to detail from what I’ve seen in the past.

I know they also refinish planes too IIRC. They’re not the cheapest in town, so heads up.

I’ve struggled just trying to find anyone who might have the time and ability to do a light frame “restore” and pull all the glass to do a complete spray. Joey’s shop would do it though.

You get what you pay for. I said they weren’t the cheapest.

I was quoted a range of $8-$12, and it would depend on all glass pulled, entire body prepped and sprayed, and the main reason for that range was how much work would need to be done under the car (frame, axles, etc) plus any body work to “straighten things up”
