'88 4Runner SAS

Got a late start to the days off but got a few things done this afternoon. Installed the painted battery holder, optima 34/78 series battery, cut the torsion bar brackets off, and mounted the rear crossmember section to the new Marlin T-case with 3.4 adapter. Well the T-case bolts and coupler was not in the box from Marlin, but I called and he had them out the door today so final install will have to wait.

My buddy Kyle and I have cut about ten pounds out of the dash harness and labeled the wires we plan to use. Now we just have to cross them to the 88 wiring. I tried to find some male plugs to make some pig tails with but no luck, sold the ones I had with the motor.
If you need left over parts from a 3.4 harness let me know.

I hate wiring with a burning passion, Looking at that pile of wires gave me a nervous tic for a second there. Much better in the second picture though, just I would hate to have seen the work it took to get from A to B.

The pile of leftovers, I hope to not even have that much wire IN my 4runner once i am done rewiring it (once I actually start that is)

Finally got the 23 spline coupling and mounting hardware for the T-case to performe the final install. Went to install the coupling into the rear of the transmission and it will not fit though the rear bearing which is not mentioned in the Marlin Crawler instructions. Removed the tail housing, bearing and found the ID of the bearing was indeed to small. Since it was Sunday we were unable to call Marlin for any suggestions so first thing Monday morning went to get a bearing that fits over the coupling then reinstalled bearing bath and tail housing. Followed by installing T-case then mounting brackets to the frame for the crossmember which a local neighbor welded for me. Topped off all the fluids mounted the shifters and turned the key.......it runs.Had a water leak but we know why from the removal of the 3.0 and the transmission lines to the radiatoror are to big, easy fixes. Still have to finish the interior and exhaust, but its getting better.

Got the second O2 sensor and the rest of the exhaust installed, used the Maganaflow 16" oval muffler with 2.225" piping and it sounds like a glasspack. Will be changing the muffler out when the funds come back.

1979 Budget Beater PU

Well I am still finishing up the 4Runner, but two Toyotas found there way into my possesion. One is a 79 single cab PU, donated by Matt, and the other is an 85 4runner sold to me that was powered by a Chevy 350, 350 Turbo AT, and Downey adapter to a Toyota T-case. The engines are missing from both trucks so I have to decide on staying with Toyota or find some chevy parts and make them work. Have almost all the parts to go Toyota just do not know if the spare parts will work as needed, and to go chevy all we need is an engine that matches the harness, bolts to a turbo 350, and some crossmember of sorts. Plan on swapping the lift kit and 38's onto the Pick Up and then start on the drivetrain.

Well we found an intake and throttle body in the back of the 4runner, the ecu and harness looks after market and complete so if we go chevy it will be TBI. Have a 22r the spins freely just don't know what it will take to make it run, but if I keep it propane will be in the works.

I like the beaters John congrats The 79 - 82 PU's is one of my favorites and thought Matt had something when he got that one. Its good to see it go to a good home. I think it would look great with a nice tube or flat bed it. What about a 22RE on propane with a crawler behind it I read about a few folks running it and looked like a sweet setup.
