Due to health, weather, and lack of motivation I have not touched it lately till today. I think I have a fuel delivery issue. Getting gas but wondering if there is crud in the pump so going to replace it. Also wondering about the alternator so I am going to have it checked as well. We have a pretty well known carb guru in the area I am going to have rebuild the carb for me as well. Just need a little extra time. Here is the list. Everyone loves lists!
1. rebuild carb
2. have alternator checked/rebuilt
3. replace fuel pump
4. see if brakes are locked up
5.install doors/ beat cab with big hammer.

Lol current cab needs a little tweaking before i can put the door on the drivers side.

Ok so replaced fuel pump. What is that thing with the black top. Mine is broken. Also anyone have the 22r fsm for download. I need to know how to take linkage apart so i can pull carb.

Carb is off. Looks grungy inside so sure it needs rebuilt.

Got the carb back and a part from sam. Anybody have a link to a good thread showing a body being removed from the frame. As much as I don't want to do it I may have too.

It's not hard. Just unhook everything, unbolt everything, etc. Slide a couple 2x4's between the cab and frame, have 3 other people help you lift it off. Don't try to lift by the front by the core support, the cab may buckle at the firewall.

The other option is to make a jig to hold the cab with long bolts through the holes in the floor, then lift it off with a cherry picker. That's how I put mine back on after it was all painted, only took 2 people and we were able to carefully line it up and take our time.

Got it to move today. Seems like brakes maybe locked up(hope that's all it is)! Its in the driveway now so time to get down to business!

I have access to a bobcat with forks!

That bimetal vacuum thingy was a bit@# to get back on. Anyway did a compression test today since I need to do one on my landcruiser as well. 120 across all cylinders dry. Re routed the gas line between the carb and pump and started it up. I think I have a vacuum leak or two as well. One being behind the intake manifold.

the longer it runs the better it runs as well. I assume there is still some trash here and there working its way out. Still got to check the brakes up front 1st. Dying to drive it around the block but not there yet!

What size socket do i need for the front and rear diff and the transfer case?

Is that middle bolt the fill plug for the case? Also the exhaust rusted in half.

Well i found my leak then broke a carb stud.

Re tapped the broken carb stud and got it back together. So at first I got the same results. For the first ten minutes it idled up and down up and down then wa la! So can the electronic carb go bad? Also the brakes up front are definitely binding. So this week brakes, fresh oil in the diffs and tranny then on to the gas tank.
