Haha... I showed my 10 year old the pic of your 80 in the first pic... He said,"That's Nasty!!" Then he saw the 2nd pic and said, "That's Tight!" :D

I couldn't help but feel pride in my chest!!! Then he goes to say, "I want an old school Ford Bronco when I start driving" "Painted drab green"... Good grief...:o

Bronco...drab green? GI Joe? :hhmm:

There is a diesel K-5 blazer on 35s and painted flat army green we pass everyday on the way to school.. I don't really care for the K-5 too much, but this one is extremely re-done and clean... But my kid loves that truck... (anything that looks like a blazer/bronco/scout is an old skool bronco to my boy..)

S/C showed up yesterday!

First off I'd like to thank everyone that took the time to respond to my call for help. But after lots of reading and a few phone calls I've decided to let the pro's do the install. No disrespect intended. They've done everything else, why stop here?

Like always SD Trux will be tasked with the job. But after talking with John about the specifics and considering the mileage on my oem hg (207k) he suggested a PM rebuild as an option. I'm not totally sold on this idea as it's a large expense but do realize it's something I'm going to have to do "eventually".

I guess there is a question somewhere in my ignorance... say I bypass the PM rebuild and run her till she goes. How much more would it cost to rebuild later vs selling everything salvageable and dropping a LS2 or Toyota 4.7 in it????

Man, you are really building up this rig nice and fast!!!

I think Slee is working on a 4.7l conversion for the 80 series. Not sure price-wise how it compares to a SC and a rebuild, but a 4.7 normally aspirated would be more than enough power. Just another option.

If you do keep the 1FZ, at least rebuilt the top end with a new head and studs. There will probably be a bunch of while-you-are-there type stuff too.

Thanks man! After this round, I'll be done for awhile.... with the exception for some of these.. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/137650-best-mod-under-100-a.html

I was just reading about his https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/449468-alive-road-some-iforce-powa.html and is expecting it to run around 10k or more. In regards to the PM rebuild - I'm pretty sure the plan was to just rebuild the top end.

You might as well do it now, otherwise it'll drive you crazy waiting for it to blow a HG.

And after it's all done you should let me drive it so I can be really jealous.

Thanks! I went in there today and saw yours and another lx450 in there, 3 out of 4 stalls with 80's! Too cool!
My rig is in there for the s/c install. They were replacing the HG and found it failing, so I'm already glad I spent the extra to do it right. Hopefully I'll have my truck back by Saturday's swap meet! I'm not sure what kind of welcome I'll receive rolling up in a VW....

80BajaBound,

You are in GREAT hands with John and his crew! Just had my HG and cylinder head replaced there. They also chased down my lean idle misfire too! As their moto goes...They put it back together like Toyota built it, and boy do they! :bounce:

I rolled up in my daughters Scion if that makes you feel any better! :D

I saw your truck there today. Looking great!

Just drove home from SD Trux with my newly blown rig. It's freaking ridiculous! Pics coming soon as I'm currently at D Street.

Suhweet Mike! Does that mean you'll be driving it up to the meet tomorrow?

Yup, I'll be there in the morning. In order to get my truck in time, I had to postpone the install if other accessories, but the important stuff is installed/ replaced....
