80 vs scout

I have heard that people are replacing the sector shafts W bigger ones on the 80s and running 37s.
What you all think of the 80 box vs the scout steering box?
I have heard that the strongest is the Scout box...

I believe you have the name right. That is who did my first one back around 2000 It is the one in my green 55 that I've been running around with.

I wouldn't step over a Scout box to pick up an 80 box but with that said I wouldn't spend the bat poop crazy money they are getting for the Scout boxes now and wouldn't have an issue going with an 80 box if I was starting fresh.
You really can't go wrong with either but my personal preference would be the Scout.

Use the Scout box if you have one, IMHO it is a robust design that has served many off roaders well for years that hammer their vehicles much harder than your average Pig owner.
If the Saginaw steering box is your weak link there is a good chance you don't have any Toyota parts left on the front of your pig and it's time for hydraulic ram.

That's the wrong West Texas Offroad. I've used WTOR and they are great. Quick turn around and will upgrade an 80 box with the 105 sector shaft if you supply it.
