Yeah, I'll stop ;p I was just trying to throw some "tech" into this thread. Anyway, I would bet the 6x14mm studs would be stronger even with the smaller spread. I'm no engineer though.

I'm not smart enough to know what CMidget is saying about the last line applying to me. Seriously. :confused:

(Hey, when's somebody gonna put that on their sig line? :D )

I missed Clownmidget's question. I have discovered 3 broken lug nuts (in 3-years/30K miles) on my 80 and zero on my 100 (in 4.5 years/100K miles). In fact, I still have a standard nut on one standard bolt we did on a trail fix. Glad this came up. I need to get the proper gizmos. :)
(See, somegood came from this thread. Thanks everybody! :D )

But don't you wheel your 80 or "beater" harder? I think this 5 vs 6 lugs is an interesting and informative debate.

Mmmmm, harder? Tough to answer...considering lug nuts.

First off, I call MY 80 a "beater", not an "80" a beater. I'm frantically looking for a low miles '97 from the SW US. I want one of these amazing beasts long term. My 80 has cloth and non height-adjustable seats. I'm very uncomfortable in it. It' rattles like mad from the headliner. It's noisy. I'm giving it to my kids. My other 80 buddies have nice ones and that's what I want. Right now I dread the ride to the trailhead. With a nice 80 I see the 100 being home even more.

As far as "harder"? Nope, I'm harder on the 100. High speed dirt, washboard, rocks, it's far heavier than the 80, it lifts the front wheels easier...nope, I brutilize the 100 to no end.

I do take the 80 to a trail with more extreme obstacles where the 100 might get damaged or pinstriped. I'd say the obstacles I do in the 80 are tougher than those in the 100 though those are few.

Fuel the flames:

Anybody see the Legendary Land Cruisers trailer? About 15 seconds in you see shotts rig with all 4 wheels firmly planted on some rocks, but right before you it you see a stockish 40 on a dirt road, lifting a wheel with it's superior solid axle suspension. :doh: :flipoff2: :popcorn:

Got any idea how many miles of tape they had to edit out to find that .5 second shot? :bounce: :popcorn:

100 = nice minivan
80 = crawlin machine :flipoff2:

100 looks too much like a Lincoln Navigator - sorry but it does. Would I buy one - yes but it's the 80 I fell in heart with. :bounce2:

SHOCKER...YOU KNOW ABOUT THESE?
I have a set of Nautilus 802s with an HTM2 center. I want a set of 801D and the new HTM1D. I'll then use the 802s for rear channel and the HTM2 for rear center channel.
My Sunfire Cinema Grand Signaure will get a workout with all 5 for sure!

Only one frame of me in the trailer, in the back ground. :crybaby: That's what happens when you bring a pink panties unit to a Land Cruiser gig.

Yeah, I went to a local place that sells them when I was thinking about going uptown on my home stereo.

There's no way I could afford them, but they like to put on a show for all their potential customers.

Played some opera disc, not sure which one, McIntosh tube amps and all, and it sounded like the woman was standing right in front of me. One of those "you wont believe it unless you experience it" things.

:cheers:

I'd say there is only one, the true 100 series and that is the 105 series. SFA, SRA, factory lockers front and rear. She flex like a 80, performs offroad like a 80 but in the confort and style of a 100.
