Thanks Thad I am glad too see you are happy with the bumper. And have been and am trying to figure out a way to make a holddown and locking system for the jerry cans and will post some pics when I finally get it figured out.

Hey Sean - what about something like this?

Also, I know we talked about mounting a Fiskars shovel to the bumper. This is what I ended up doing :)

No problem. I will market them for a free one ;-). I have been in on this since the beginning but family issues have made me a viewer and not a buyer. One day though, I will be the guy on the other end of the phone asking for shipping. ;-)

I had the good fortune of meeting Sean on Saturday. He installed one of his bumpers on the back of my '91.

After speaking with him for just a few minutes, it was obvious that Sean takes a lot of pride in his work and has very high standards. His bumpers reflect this. The thing is sooo nice!!

I drove almost 200 miles on the freeway after getting it put on and there were no rattles, squeaks or anything. I was regularly looking at the ladder and the spare in the mirror and I could not see any movement or vibration at all. This thing is rock solid.

Going with this bumper was a really easy decision for me. I knew as soon as I saw one for the first time that it was the bumper I wanted. It was a good move. All mods should be this good. You get both function and form for a very reasonable price.

I look forward to field testing it soon, but my first impressions are .

Thanks again Sean!!

I hope you don't stop making these...You do awesome work, and hope to get one soon!

AMEN to that! I'm almost there... Been working extra hours to get this! I wish it's tax season already!!!

thanks for the kind words guys, that is great to hear and very inspiring! I am still building these, and will be as long as you guys still want them. I caught up on orders for them, and I am in the process of building two more right now, so if anyone wants one the wait is only a couple weeks.

How do these bumpers bolt up or weld up to the frame? just curious

How do these bumpers bolt up or weld up to the frame? just curious

1. Pump up your nuts to cut out the rear cross member
2. Proceed to remove the rear cross section- ( if your anal like me -clean and prep area after removal - a little rust prevention never hurts. I cleaned/ primered/ and painted the rear frame sections post cut of the cross member. corrosion prevention is part of my daily job)
3. Install new bumper (easy fit and fairly simple bolt on). and I suppose if you were bored and wanted something to do- weld it if you want too. otherswise, the fit is extremely good and more than ample hardware to hold it on.
4. Enjoy the compliments that you recieve when you goto town or on the trail! :D

You have to remove the rear crossmember and the bumper bolts on with 20 bolts that are provided. takes a good part of the day for most people to complete. hardest part is the crossmember removal. And I must say that removing the crossmember can be challenging for the average joe to say the least. It is a major modification to the back of the frame, and going back to stock isnt going to be cheap or easy at all.

To remove it a plasma cutter is the best way to got if you have one or can get your hands on one. A grinder with a few cut off wheels and grinding discs, and a sawzall works too. lots of sparks and hot sharp metal, not for the faint of heart for sure, but it is doable. I did it like that without a plasma cutter on quite a few, and on a good day could get it done and all the welds ground down and painted in less than a hour, most people takes about 2-4hrs to complete. Having your local mechanic do the job for you if this sounds scary might be the way to go as well

ere are a few pics of plasma cut crossmember. One removed without the aid of a plasma cutter follows the same basic cut lines with a cuttoff wheel, except at a top part of the crossmember between it and the underside of the body, you must make two cuts with a sawzall with at least a 8" blade, and hold onto the sawzall very tight. The remaining metal on the frame is then hammered off and/or chiseled out and the welds ground down that remain on the frame. the bumper slides on top of the frame and is bolted on.

All this wrenching and grinding is dangerous to say the very least. please be very careful, wear safety glasses that seal between your cheeks and the glasses because sparks will bounce off everything, including you cheeks and into your eye, just like I did last year. OUCH!! wasnt a fun experience. Airgas has the best selection of eye protection I could find.

PM sent.

PM'd you Sean. I think I am ready to order.

Anyone in or near NYC.
I have a brand new dual swing out from Sean I never installed or have removed from the freight pallet up for sale.
Item is located at my friends warehouse up high in one of the pallet racks here in the city.
NO WAIT, ready to go.

Asking what I paid for it.
I am only selling it to get another bumper for my newly acquired 100.

Message me.
