Congrats on the purchase! That is a rare sight, not many of these left especially in that condition.

5. Mods so far - (Longfield FJ80 30-Spline Birfield/Axle Super Set) (prepping for v8 swap)
6. How the truck is used - custom rebuild (currently tearing out whole interior and wiring harness for deep clean and more prep for pulling the engine and transmission when I have the space to do so) This Toyota has been through a lot abuse and horrible “custom” work from previous owners so wish me luck !!!!

Curious about that JDM camping option. Interesting. Never seen that before. Is that a sleeping platform or a table? Hard to tell from the last pic.

Pretty sure it’s a bed platform. I’ve had one similar before, and as you can see in these pics it looks to have padded sections to cover the second row when the seats go down. Also has a sink.

Back in an 80 after about a decade. I traded the '76 40 series in my avatar pic for a '97 40th Anniversary Ed.

My son will be driving this year, and I wanted something more reliable and a bit more safe w ABS and airbags, so I traded another MUD member from TX for it.

My boy and I will have time to fix some small things on it, and he'll start learning maintenance for it, so I'm pleased.

I think all the dads on MUD will applaud this move. Trading the 40 for an 80 to give your son something safer, more reliable and still seriously capable is a full-on dad move. Those memories you’ll build together driving it and maintaining are worth everything.

My 80 is shop-maintained but the time my kids have spent in it daily driving and road-tripping has built some great memories. They’ve already called dibs on who gets my M5 and Jeep when it's time - but the 80 they want to own jointly with whoever needs it for a road trip, camping, etc. taking it out.

That (gray 40th) is a really good looking ride right there. Is it as clean as it looks?? I like it.

Is this the rig that was competitively bided on BAT last year? If so, I know the seller because I tested your vehicle, liked it but decided to go for the 100 turbodiesel. You got a very nice one, just needed something more comfy on long road trips for a young family. Cheers!
