I think that I remember reading that the LSPV is supposed to be bled before and after bleeding the rears?

Damn right!

Ok, serious tech. Michaela's 80 is having a brake problem that has my guys stumped.
Nolen was driving it the other day and noticed it and i have several times as well.
In normal stopping you have a good pedal, but in panic stopping you apply the brakes and the pedal just stiffen ups like normal but it continues to roll. Its like the abs is not engaging right. No lights, bleed brakes and had very little air out of right rear. But pedal acts normal in regular stopping. Strange...

Mine is doing the same thing. I ordered a master cylinder and booster. Found rear seal on master cylinder has failed and leaking into the booster.
Pretty weird! I was going to post tonight that Val's '96 is doing something VERY similar. Going down the road, if you push the brake pedal, all is good.....even in a panic-style stop. However, if, for instance, you're in a parking lot and sort of resting your foot on the pedal as you're about to push it to stop, the pedal will rise TO you and become hard as a rock! (Much like if you turn off a power brake-equipped car and push the pedal several times. The pedal will become very firm) Also, when it firms up and if you press on it really hard, you can press "through" the hard pedal, but by that time, you've already hit what you were approaching.......

On some cars I've worked on in the past, they had a one-way vacuum valve in the booster vacuum line. I looked at the LC's line, and it appears to be valve-free, but I don't know that for sure. Anyone know?

I'm pretty convinced that my LC's symptoms are isolated to the booster and/or vacuum source, as nothing has shown up to make me believe there's any ABS/LSPV/Caliper involvement. It just stops too well, otherwise, to make me believe there's an intermittent problem with one of those other components.

Once additional question comes to mind: I'm now wondering if the heat has anything to do with any of this?......sure seems unlikely that 3 of us (any maybe others) would be experiencing similar symptoms that started about the same time.........Rob and Chris, ours are all 95-97 models, right?

Where did you find a booster?

To compliment the cupholder , i built a hi lift jack mount on the schwing out tire carrier.

I wanted it close to the schwing out tire carrier spindle and behind the tire. I dont find hi lift jacks very attractive. At its closet point to the tailgate i have about 3/4 " max error room. About as much as the on i built for the kaymar ( Val's now).

I like it hidden back there.

If you back into a tree with the tire will the jack hit the tailgate?

I would have to hit it real hard!

The pivot point is still the spindle/swing out arm and has very little movement. There is more error space were the top of the tires is and a little more movement there as well, l but its furthest from
The truck at that point due to the eay the rear is angled. I hope this makes sense.

My attempt at a quickie CO2 bottle mount.
It will do.

Lenny can the high lift lever side be turned outward......?

Seems like in the event it did flex that your rigs tail gate would have more stand off from it...

The mount on the swing out is on an angle To tuck the jack jaw ( or whatever the thing that part is called ) away from the body. If it was reversed it would be closer to the tailgate. Not as close as pic makes it out to be.

Also, remember that a 10+ year old car can be bought without having to pay any sales tax............unless you buy it from a dealer, as in this case (so add another 5% to this one)

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info!

Note: My comment is true in Mississippi. I'm not familiar with Tennessee rules......

Great news on the 80! Give us some criteria, and let's see if we can get one bought for you........

On the D90, for a small "handling charge," it CAN be yours! :)
