If I was spending Tolleson's money, I would slick Bessie up like that. It's got the low miles and cool parts its just been ass-raped by Debbie so long its looks like a rodie ho

Ass raped by Debbie... Damn! lol

Would replacing the HG on a 1FZ as PM be considered overkill? Someone asks about the HG on every single 80 that crosses the block in the for sale section. Is there rule of thumb regarding mileage/service interval similar to the 90k interval on the 100's, or is the general consensus to just run it til it fails and be prepared to limp it/tow it to the shop.

You wouldn't be the first to do it as PM. I think they can let go at any mileage, which is why everyone is paranoid.

If you drive it cross country or deep into BFE, doing it as a PM is definitely not overkill. If you just drive it around town, perhaps.

Toyota re-designed the HGs after all of the 80 Series were on the roads. They stopped short of a recall, but the HGs tend to fail around the #6 cylinder and at varying mileage. My HG on my 97 blew north of 200K. Toyota will tell you not to replace it as PM...but many enthusiasts have done it and it goes a long way with potential buyers.

Garth when are we gonna see you on the trail again? It's bee a while buddy!

When Grogan sells me his 100? I don't know...wife is working, kids are busy...I still have my 40 though.

I keep wanting to sell it but the wife won't let me. We are likely moving from Columbus, GA to Saint Simons Island, Georgia this summer...farther away but great place for a 40.

I've been a web wheeler since my youngest was born...he's 11!

Change it - you'll feel better than wondering when your time will come up. First major thing I did to our 80 and Mo's LX450 when we picked it up from DNP. Mine's been about 200K or so since the HG change and doing well.

I have an unused set of IronMan 80 Series 15mm rear trim packers. I bought them for the 200 (after being told they would fit but they do not). Instead of sending them back to MetalTech and getting a refund, I thought it would be easier to just sell them to a club member.

$45

What?? You say you bought spring packers for a 200 from ironman and they said they would fit? Say it ain't so!!
