If no body else is going to bite I will. Let me see when I can get my hands on a trailer. Do you still have the axles? If so how much extra? Im plannin on building half ass's cheaper more redneck brother.

Thats fine Im thinking 6.0/4l80/splitcase from the start. I would want the axles dont care about the engine/trans/t-case.

Fountainhead showed me his new led reverse lights. Had to order a set for Bessie and Michaela's 80.

I like to see em' "clap"!

Well, I finally got the replacement lift gate installed on "Bumpers", the 91 FJ80 I picked up in LA a few months ago. The old one had a little rust around the glass and I was lucky enough to find a replacement from TX that was the same color and rust free. Half way through I realized that the 91 does not have the third brake light which the new lift gate did have. Also, the wiring harness is slightly different as well.

After partially disassembling the two lift gates I found that about three ft into the wiring harness there are another set of plugs that do match so it was just a matter of fishing the old wiring harness segment into the replacement tailgate. This addresses everything except the third brake light. Unfortunately, the job was made a bit harder as I had to pull down a small section of the headliner to make all the required connections:(.

While the headliner was down I took the opportunity to fish in a pair of wires from this area all the way down to the drivers side tail light, make a few connections, and, ta-da, new third tail light in the 91!

Changed the lock cylinder in the new gate so the original key will still work (simple job), tested all the functions except the defroster (will do that in the morning), and buttoned it all up. Just need to buff out the paint a bit and it will be better than new;). All in all a good day!

I would expect nothing less from the Bossman!
