Seriously? $185 for $10 worth of strapping you could buy a Joanne’s Fabric? I guess I am just a cheap ass…

Yep, and then the 30 or so hours i'm sure it would take me to sow it all together in a neat way that i was happy with.

30 hours? Did you plan on using your feet? I kid I kid. I would take awhile to put something together like that, so I suppose the price is easily justifiable.

IMO the $$ was well spent to keep the stuff in back, and off my kids heads as well as mine :meh:

Might be a good business for you to get into if you could make these for a lot less :hmm:

When i was originally thinking about this and looking at your photo's corsair i forgot to take into account the extra roof hight i enjoy due to the lack of moonroof. After pulling and pushing the net around now i can see that i am going to need to use some footman loops up high to get the net so sit closer to the roof.

I'll post up some pictures of progress as i go along. Currently i'm thinking of mounting the footman's along the channel that runs along the top of the doors. I hope that this will give me a little extra hight and enable me to pull the net tight across the top.

Has anybody else installed one of these nets since this thread went silent, i'd be interested to hear if anyone has installed the footman hoops in their 80.

I know some others have bought the nets but I haven't seen any pictures...I'm still using mine the same way I was 2 years ago and in fact I've got it installed now. Good luck with the install and definitely post up some pics.

I bought my net many moons ago when they didn't have a design for the 80 series. On a recent trip I borrowed another net meant for an 80 series and mounted it behind the first row (I sleep inside my 80). The fit and finish along with the extra loops made the installation very precise and tight. Sorry I have no pics of my installation but they're well worth the money and the piece of mind.

Cheers.

I need a cargo barrier but really need the flexibility to have full access sometimes.
I think this looks good, certainly I could not make one myself for this price!

I think you'll be happy with this product. One some trips, I unhook one side, put the net aside for sleeping inside so it's a good compromise.

Ok, been out looking in the back of the truck pulling the net around and this is what i've come up with so far.

Use the cargo hold down bolt to secure a second flat bracket for the lower-lower loop of the net.
For the upper-lower loop i'm thinking put a small slit in the cargo area trim and use a footman bolted the the inner metal paneling somehow(i have yet to pull the trim to refresh myself with how that area looks for metal but i think its doable).
For the lower-upper i'm really not sure, originally i didn't want any of the footman holds to be showing but i can't see anyway to do this one without it sitting on top of the wall liner.
For the upper-upper loop i think i should be able to tap into the support beams that run side-to-side where the rear roof light is, and attach a footman behind the headliner. A small slit in the headliner to allow the straps to come back out. This one i'm unsure of the strength of those beams as so far i've only felt them with my fingers through the headliner.

Idea, comments, suggestions?

subscribing so i will know where to find this lightweight option after i finish my drawer system!

I picked one of these up. I needed a way to keep sleeping bags and other light weight bulky items that always end up thrown in on top of everything else from sliding over the seat backs. This is the perfect solution. Of course it would have helped had I actually READ the online instructions on how to fit it properly before sitting in the back of my truck scratching my head, but that's how I roll.

Very high quality product, fast shipping. Good stuff.

I'm in the process of selling my truck and realised i never did post any pictures of my net installed.

Great thread! I just bought and installed a net into my '96 LX450, behind the front seats. I have a wooden platform there for storage of my recovery gear, and my doggy rides on top. This will keep her close at hand but prevent her from becoming a missile if we crash.

I bought a couple of extra 36 inch straps plus half a dozen footman loops, and I ended up using both straps and two of the loops on my box. I highly recommend buying these extras.

One thing I like is that I can detach the top two straps and let the net hang down enough for me to see over the top with the rear view mirror.

I've been using one of Raingler's universal Jeep nets in the far back for many years, to secure lightweight bags and gear. They make quality stuff.

The inside of my truck looks like a fisherman's net shed now - from back to front I have the 18x30 inch Raingler net up high, then the full height Milford cargo barrier, then the 80 Series net from floor to ceiling..... LOL.

It may take a week to ten days to build and ship your net. I was confused because I received a "your item has shipped" email the next day, but in fact it took 14 days to receive it.

Novae,
Thanks for the pics. I also have a sleeping platform and probably should have a barrier.

I may need to buy one that's actually made for the 80, as oppose to the one I have that's for a 4Runner. For some unknown reason, my dog decided to chew threw the net and go to the front of the rig while we were sleeping in the Kamparoo. Our guess is that he saw a bear and wanted to run far, far away....
