Nice! She's gonna look Purdy!

Well at least whats under her skirt , that chassis is worn and needs some reconditioning. How did you make out with your birfield after the recent trip to HS? You think its the 37's causing the stress or just worn out birfs? I grabbed the set and the lockers out of the Pull-a-part 80 for spares. I wanted to grab so much more :frown:

I haven't pulled it yet, but it's the same side that snapped just a few thousand miles ago. I think it's the 37's, so I'm going chromoly in the front. It was a tough ledge and I felt that I had to get on it a little, but not much. Everyone watching said it should have never happened with the way I was driving. It was the entrance to Bailey's Boulder and I was just going to take the bypass for the exit. If I try a 5 again it's going to be towards the end of the last day, so that I can enjoy the rest of the trip!:hillbilly:

Gotcha, I would have liked to see some pics or video of the attempt :D I know you heard some flack from the beeper's :frown: Knock on wood I've never broke one on any of my cruisers to date but I've also never ran anything over a 35. I'm sorry to hear it happened again hopefully the chromoly will put an end to any issues. I heard the same thing happened to one of the guys in Cottonland running 40's he broke at SCC and again at Sicily Island and I wanted to ask how the replacements were holding up for him.

I don't think she's going to be impressed when she gets home but I did as instructed I put the tires in place, LOL :)

LOL, looks funny but she didn't complain ;) need to order those longer shocks can get more out of the front :)

That's funny, my wife probably wouldn't notice the difference! Man that bumper looks good!

Maybe you should remove. Some idiot might try to steal it and hop in thinking its ok. Then drop it on the frame off the jack stands. :(

LOL, the less they notice the better we are :), thanks I like the way it came out its not the best looking home brew copy of the Metaltech version but it should be very sturdy for trail use with wing ties going to the frame. If I bend this one bouncing off trees I'll likely have to transplant everything to another frame :(

LOL, I don't think it's worth jail time for an old goat like my 80 now my neighbors Orange 2010 SRT8 Challenger with 5000 miles under a cover in his carport maybe more worth their attempt :)

Did away with the cats and plugged off the EGR system. Had planned take out the EGR plumbing when I reworked the head. I did have to experiment and buy a couple resistors to loop the air temp sensor on the intake plenum. I did notice a significant difference in the pep in its step it was running great with the timing advanced but since then I yanked the distributor to fix an oil leak and didn't mark it and I've yet to get it back to that mark. It runs good but I don't think the timing is exactly match where it once was and I can't seem to replicate it so far. As for mileage it probably does help I just found I had a heavier foot with the extra pep so I didn't see any :(

If time permits I hope to replace that pesky oil pump leak before the TN trip I couldn't get the screws loose when I did the distributor and crank seal and this write up explains why. I hope with the radiator out I can hit them with an impact drive and get them out, well its my wishful thinking and I'll keep soaking them up to that point :)

Well the weekend was semi productive not much time ferrying Holden back and forth to the festival. The third is in, gracious Mr Kegley, wire wheeled and sanded till I got it clean also hit the front of the frame and got it cleaned up. Finally mixed up a batch of rustoleum in the sprayer and soaked it all down. At least it'll be clean for the ride up to Tennessee ;) I fought one of the long field wipers last night and finally got it in, hopefully as advertised they are the last ones I'll install in this 80. Will put the other one in this afternoon and hopefully be wheeling it out to hang under the frontend. My neighbors look at me funny when I start up the 80 and let it run a while when it's sitting on jackstands ??? Someone has to be the redneck of the neighborhood right? LOL

Hope your weekend was a good one as well :)

:lol: I'm that guy right now too, but mine is in the garage. Glad you're making progress!

Done ... And I don't know that the frontend will ever look this clean again so I have to document it :) besides the locker being engaged and not unlocking on the first test drive that failed I couldn't get out of the neighborhood. I popped the locker out and swung the lever manually with a gasket scrapper to unlock it then buttoned it back up and took the kids out for ice cream on a second test drive. Frontend felt good and tight and the locker engages in and out like it should. Will pop the backup pull-part rear locker and harness in the rear tomorrow or Monday then start packing it for GSMTR :) hope your weekend is good one as well :)
