I am working on my '80 pickup for my son. This will be his Truck when he turns 16. It is getting a Chevy 4.3 CPI - 700r4 - NP241 swapped in. The engine/trans has been fit and the mounts are in place. I just cleaned up the engine bay. Wiring harness has been trimmed and new brake lines bent and installed. I will post up more pics soon.

Simply put, that is my dream truck!
Can you send a rust free short bed 4x4 1979 or 1980 to me in NJ? I don't care if it even has an engine. I have a rotted 79 with 37,000 miles. It is ready to donate all of its parts to a new truck.

I am hoping the kid won't like it, so I can add it to my stable. Maybe I can get him a Corolla instead.

Very cool truck for a 16 year old. I'll be starting on a truck soon(still a few years out) for my daughter.

Got to keep it clean in CA. The SMOG Refs love a clean engine bay.

The truck is now officially done and on the road. I received a CA BAR sticker today!

Nice.

I runs like a raped ape! Fuel consumption is hard to judge right now because I can't stop stomping on the throttle. I am guessing It will be somewhere around 16-18 MPG just like the GMC Jimmy it came out of. I owned an astro van with the same engine and got about 18 MPG. But the best number is 1,000,000 smiles per mile!
