My last 40 was 22r powered w/a 4:1 case and 60/14 bolt. Traded it 5 years ago and still kick myself for doing so!!!!

On the same 40, I used a 60 column and mini truck shaft so it had tilt, blinkers, horn etc in the column. I just had to rework the mount brackets at the floor and the where it bolted to the dash. Worked out pretty well.

Was trying to keep cover low so I can use original heater core box

Moving fuel filler door to driver side. I’m reusing fj80 fuel tank and filler neck. Had to make the tank smaller because I moved the engine back and now there’s less room where the original tank was located.

Removed the body to get good access to frame so I can cut off not needed original body mounts and cleanup surface rust. Primed and pained frame and underbody.

Moved the exhaust to run inside the frame and removed catalytic converters. Used stock muffler and removed resonator from the rear.
Removed rear O2 sensor. Will be running only front O2 sensor for air fuel mixture.

With body back on and all body mounts attached I moved on to the brake system before installing front fenders. Installing stock master cylinder and removed Abs pump. Also removed rear load sensing valve.

With the front end installed moved on to fitting new aluminum radiator I got . It’s made for a small block 350 so it should keep the 4.5 cool.
The hose fitting are same size as fj80 stock radiator

Actually I’ve been driving the 40 for couple months now. So the time line is not accurate. Just been posting everyday to show the progress over 5 years period.

Battery box. Lots of guys delete the blower motor and install the battery there. I’m keeping the blower so I can reuse original heater core box
