79 exhaust ?

did 79's come equipped with a cat? if so where was it mounted? right where the 2 pipes come into one?

Yes, 2 pipes, similar to the 79 and 80 40 series came with 2 pipes off the manifold to the cat.except these 2 pipes stayed inside the frame rails, unlike the 40 series that went outside the frame rails.

I think that they did have a cat, my friend has a 79 and after he removed the 2F(for a v8 ), I ended up with the dual pipe pown pipe and the cat. Like you mentioned it does stay in between the frame rails, unlike eariler 2F exhausts...

I think only the Cali emisions had a cat, Fed emisions didn't.

I was just thinking that 79 40's came with cats...that 55's would probably have one also

I'll have to get a better look when I buy it!
