Build 76 Fj40 Face Lift

Posted this up on the "What have you done" thread earlier. Figured it was so Appalachian that it deserved to be remembered on the "face lift" A.K.A. the Mule thread too. Or maybe I was just confused and wondering aimlessly literarily speaking. It's a possibility...

The mini fridge launches an idea(s)...

Here in greater "Prestonia", I'm very limited on space in the garage. It's slightly smaller than the old garage (Storage Bld) and its somewhat incumbered by the necessity to store day to day household essentials. Rather that trek the 125 or so miles to the "Unit", I'm trying to utilize every inch of space I have available here. Yesterday, pre top removal, my good friend B-Ray and I went three dimensional. It's low buck (my favorite part) and low tech (my other favorite part) but it gets the doors up and out of the way. I have some closed cell foam I'll use as a damper later.

Going to be looking for answers later to determine the best COA for stowing the Hard Top.....

"Reprobate" is an awful big word, so I just refer to mine as my "s***bag buddies"... regardless of the descriptor you choose, we've all got at least one.
Well, according to at least a few of my friends significant others, I resemble that description. 🙄

The OPORD/PLAN never survives the 1st round of the engagement.

I'm on a self-imposed operational pause. The Sniper and the Trans/T-case are on the proverbial shelf until Fall/Winter. The Mule is running 1st rate and the mechanics will easily get me into the teardown season. After the top came off the Mule was issued a FRAGO: BPT enjoy summer sun.

Im'a drive the p!$$ out of this thing this summer...:steer:

Spent the AM re-inserting the interior. Used some new hardware just to pretend I took everything out with the intent of reinstalling it with new bling...

If it ain't broke, you'd hate to fix it till it is... especially in prime mule riding season.

Tank Cover back in. Used some insulation/sound deadener to keep the cover from too much damage during the seat bracket install. Pulled it after the seat was mounted. It's not that the Mule doesn't have a nick, a scrape and or a scar, it's I was just trying to keep it to a dull roar.

Fer' sure...Sometimes during the long winter, you get the "Upgrade-itous"..I do believe I'm over it...

Good news is. "I got a box o' goodies" just waiting on that 1st snow fall.... ;) 👈

@Homey15 - Your "Beverage modulator(s)" fit perfectly. Possibly, the best upgrade, outside of OME's, I've added to the Mule.

Homemade floor mats are still towing the line. Passenger seat is back in. CONFER center console stepping up for duty and the two cup, anti-inversion beverage capacitor is aligned and modulating as designed.............. 👈 :steer: During lift off procedures, I tested it pre-flight. Lift off was a go..

Kick in the Flux Capacitor, It's summer time.........................................................................................☀️

Mule(s) on Parade 😁

It just wouldn't be a "Mule show" unless there was some gratuitous form of diamond plate exploitation.

Soooo, come hell er' high water, Im'a rock this ole Mule in all its DP glory like this till after the long frost....

Giddy up...

Hit the hardtop with a quick coat of paste wax. I'm going to try and stow the top here IOT avoid a six hour round trip this fall.

So, I'm looking to the distinguished forum for novel ideas. My ceiling here is only 8'. Simpler the better... 😁

How about a simple pulley mounted to a rafter(or maybe 2 mounted several feet apart to keep the end of the cable going back to the mule from hitting the top as it gets close to the ceiling), and some small lift straps to sling around the top...then use the emgo on the mule to hoist it to the ceiling and build a small framework(attached to ceiling) with some removable cross bars for it to sit on. The steel stock you used to build your door hangers would work ideal I'd think?
Edit: thought you had used pic related on door hangers, this is what I had in mind...

Check out the options for the 1955, 56 and 57 ford thunderbirds. And the 2002 - 2005… this is exactly what they use… a simple setup

I use this setup in my garage. Add the Harbor Freight $130.00 electric hoist and it is a 1 man job (keep an eye out for coupons and it is even less expensive)

I'll be damned, that is indeed exactly what I was thinking of...I believe I'd still build the support rack for insurance that it doesn't fall but probably not entirely necessary.

That does seem pretty simple...and low $$$.

Hardware is making its way to Greater Prestonia.

Test fitting sans gaskets to make sure all the threads are good. Looks like we are a go. Still have a few pieces yet to arrive/collect. May go ahead and source a shift tower and related parts.

Most of the parts for the T-case/Trans marriage are here as well.

Input gear stopper, input gear, PTO gear, input shaft spacer and stake nut. T-case rear bearing (Idler shaft bearing?) and Output shaft set washer (didn't make the photo op).

Where did you get that nice shiny input gear stopper?
