I have only ever used SFP and my complaint was always the moving reticle being inconsistent so I never used the marks for holdover, always just knew my yardage drop and guessed.
I’m looking at the Maven RS.3…. I’ve been looking for awhile and haven’t worked up the courage to buy.

That's the nice thing, cheat sheet with some holds, and you can be accurate enough for hunting.

If you really want to go ape and have a capable rifle, (which nobody hunting wants to ruck a 20# rifle very far), you set up a weather station. Get wind, temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure, then you can drop that round right where it needs to be with a ballistic app.

I've only been sad once dropping big money on glass and that was recently. I bought a high end Vortex because I was told the new model was a long ways out. Turns out that was about three weeks. 😡

600 w/a 22 sub is a very long poke indeed.........

The flight times are ridiculous. At 600 yards, I'm guessing basically. I run out of dial and hold. It's 157.2 MOA, which means I am aiming about seventy eight feet over the target. A squirrel fart ruins those shots.
My skill set pretty much ends around 300yds. 😆
Having said all of that, without hesitation, FFP is my go to if “there can be only one” , and for me, MOA is my favorite flavor...

I struggle with 2FP, as in I might as well use foul language first and skip the squeeze.

Most people in the league I shoot do so in mils. I'm a cabinetmaker by trade. Tenths of anything makes zero sense to me. Halves, quarters, eighths transition easily from a decimal in my notes to a mark in the reticle for me.

This is out the back door of my shop, that sign is a hair over 400yds if I remember correctly.

Far too much money for a 22, but it's hands down the nicest rifle I've ever shot. Modern machining is just amazing. 20 years ago that rifle would've been $20k+ for that level of quality. Easily. I don't think I've got ten grand into it with everything, gear, glass, chassis, suppressor, and other widgets.

And before anyone gives me flak about the bolt being closed, I just got done cleaning it, that's why it was on the tripod in the shop. I knew it was empty.

I’ll give you the veteran(thanks a million times over) but am going to call BS on the down on his luck. If wrenching, skiing, rifles, cold snacks and bird hunting are bad times, count me in.

I’ve been counting you in from the beginning.!!!

But, we gotta’ meet up to do the appropriate rendering of the “cold snack”. I’m up for a taste test in Montana....

Nice chassis!!!

Very well appointed setup. Precision shooting has come a very long way in the past 10-15 years..

I had to make the drive over towards Ohio this AM. It was spitting snow when I left but for all practical purposes the season is just about over here.

That just means fishing season is here...:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2::bounce:

Brother, there is some high end glass out there. I just saw where Vortex won a DA contract to put optics on the new squad weapons. If you get the chance take a look at the Arken line (no affiliation). 34mm tube, FFP, outstanding turrets, zero stop etc etc.

The new kit can take you to a whole new level. Makes me wonder what ole’ “White feather” (channeling my inner Jar Head) could have accomplished with the latest and greatest. 🤔

18" of fresh powder since they closed last Sunday, 13" of new stuff yesterday! Yeah, I might have to fire the 40 up and take a trip up to the mountain tomorrow.

Carlos held the record up until some Canadian in the early 00's popped a dude at altitude in the mountains. BMG with US ammo which was a little hotter. I read a book about him years ago, might've just been called Whitefeather? I can't remember. The .50 isn't a great round, it's just fricking huge and catastrophic. There's a lot better options nowadays. Between that, the improvements in manufacturing, and modern glass, it would've been impressive.

I've got a Razor HD on that rifle now. It doesn't get a heck of a lot better. Once of these days I want to put together a nice centerfire, I'll probably upgrade my comp gun when that time comes. A little more magnification would be handy at times, and the biggest thing everyone says about the new model is how forgiving the paralax is. I'm also limited by being MOA. I really like the Zero Compromise glass, but the the reticle I like it's only in milliradian.

Should hopefully finish it up tomorrow:

Taunting me....

USPS is inbound to sunny Burbank....I do want to have a chat w/you later on Ref: techniques, tactics and procedures. Hopefully, you can enlighten me to the mysteries of the TLC universe, or recommend the best restaurant on Coronado. Either one will do..

Gracias Mijo...

700 grn's of jacketed persuasion.

I've thought about F-class or B-rest. I have access to a 1000M but, its getting really difficult to schedule times with all the new shooters. My local is 600yd and has out to 350yd automated. I keep the hunting hardware tuned up there and shoot clay's on occasion. Although interest in shotgunning is outpacing the interest in centerfire. Primarily cost I think. Box of clays and 100 rnds of #7 2 3/4 is still a inexpensive afternoon. Shooting 100 rnds of 338LM requires a 2nd mortgage......

Done. On to @Adarcy transmission.

Did you fab this plate on the frame! This look so clean!

No, I didn't fab it up. I'd have to hop in the way-back machine to figure out where I picked it up. If I remember it was suitable for various winch applications.

Well done sir. Bag of sheckles should be at your 10 digit location soonley. Going to start the countdown for the four post...

You should drop by sometime. kick yer' feet up, play a little 6 string, take a sip from a mason jar, watch the fire die down....
