Loving the new fenders... not so much the tease post.

"Look at all of these parts I have... guess I'll work on this some other time." Ha!

I know trust me I wish I had the space to be restoring the 75... :(

About that license plate prop.....

My buddy who is storing my 75 is a big Land Rover guy. Not sure how many he has but it is quite a few more than the two land cruisers I have.

With the trade war with Canada and steel prices seemingly on the rise, figured it was time to get in on my replacement sill for the 75. @Awl_TEQ ’s work is unbelievable!

Been doing diddly squat on my cruisers sadly... :( But I did get this sweet reproduction of my mangled engine bay data plate by @RAGINGMATT. Going to look sweet if I ever get working on this one lol. Apparently the plate below is somewhat rare, wasn't even used for an entire year.

And for good measure figure I should probably have a fresh door jamb plate too!

Thanks Matt!

Thanks Matt!

What are the prices on those?

You have an amber front apron turn signal light like the '74 in your tote, but the rectangular fender turn signal set-up from '75 and later. Did your rig come with both?

Ya, hope you never hear the dreaded "You spend more on that than you do on me!"

I remember years ago when my wife and I attended a Christmas dinner party for a company she worked for. At the time, I was elbow deep in restoring a big-block 67 Mustang Fastback. My wife was not very happy with the time and $ spent. She said it would never get done and I started to believe that she was right. It's very easy for a large project to get side-lined and years later, have a garage full of disassembled parts.

So, at the party, my wife's boss was seated to the left of me. She quietly whispers in my ear, "John, I hear you bought a sports car and your wife is not very happy with it." I responded that it was really a muscle car and yes, she was not too excited.

She told me that she threw me a bone. Apparently she told my wife that a man is susceptible to 2 things when they get middle age. They'll either buy a sports car or have an affair. She explained to my wife that the car was a great choice. My wife actually supported my project after that. I actually thinks that she loves to ride. The problem is that my mismatched FJ40 is my new mistress. She's rough, spends all my loose change but has good lines.

Unless I'm away from home, I do something towards my restoration every single day. It may be something very small but something always gets done. Even if it's only 15 minutes, something gets done. Mentally, you know you're making progress which is bookoo important towards self-satisfaction.

I just transferred parts and didn’t even notice that. Good eye! Guess I have some extra parts. I’m not sure where the aprons are next time I’m down in the area (thanksgiving) I’ll have to take a look.

This was inspirational...

Have you made any more progress on this one?

That would be a big fat NO. Not sure when or even if this will happen at this point. But thanks for asking! :)

Who am I kidding? It has been over 10 years since I bought this 40. Might be time to sell it off... Then maybe put those funds into my 74... ;)

Anyone within a reasonable drive of San Luis Obispo, California interested?

Having not done any work on this, I'm not 100% certain what is missing, but some things are, even though the PO said it was complete when I bought it. No rain gutter or dash pad for certain. One of the door cards was damaged but the vinyl is okay. Would include the brand new OEM fenders and the sill plate repair piece. I would swap out the tan seats that currently are in my 74 and put the grey ones back in (so the tan ones go with this sale). I did have the headrests professionally matched to the tan vinyl. I want to say the bell housing is a 3 speed one vs. 4 speed also. Hood was tweaked in one corner when it went airborne on the drive home. Gas tank? Hmm... I had done an inventory on things a LONG time ago, but no way I can remember it now lol. Oh unrestored 8274 winch would be included also.

Been stored inside a shop since the day it was purchased. Anyone have any thoughts on the value of this?
