I need a radiator for my 73 pig. The PO decided it was a good idea to put an electric fan through the original.
Was going to run it by the rad shop but not really wanting to fork over the coin for a re-core. Its just a beater with a heater!
FJ40 4 core rads are like 200$ from radiatorbarn anyone use one, to tall?? How bout fj60? Got pics?

Looking for a cheap option so I can at least drive the thing around the woods.

cruiserparts has a rad listed for a piggie.
40 rads mount differently, as do 60 rads. if your looking for a boltin application. you should be able to make either of them work with some minor fab work.

I'd see how much a recore would be.

The rad I received for my 77 was from a 79, which may as well have been from a 60. I have a 60 series in mine- from radiator barn(249 to my door). The 60 series and 79 fj55 radiator are almost identical in mounting pattern. I used a piece of angle and bolted it to the side of the upright of the radiator support. This also brought the thing back about 3/4". That gave me a compounded clearance issue w/ the factory fan. I have an electric on it now:meh:. The frankenradiator thread utilizes the fj40 radiator, and looks like a viable option. People have also done cross flo aluminium radiators from like summit. Requires more fab work to go that route, and the alum rads are usually two row. I did have a bit of trouble w/ getting the hose to work out.

Thanks Lamb;) FJ40...that frankenradiator thread is from my rig. It runs beautifully (unlike my carburetor right now:(. Take a peak at the photos, and if you need measurements and such, I'm happy to help.

I've seen a 40 radiator in a '55 before. wasn't pretty. I think I'd spring for a quality recore. 3-row should be good enough, and would leave room between the fan & radiator...

When I did my SBC swap, I put a bigger aluminum radiator from Summit, in there.
