I know jack about Cummins engines, other than that I like them, so what models are in these 2 45's?

I have been falling asleep thinking about the sound of the cummins in that beige fj45 since Cruiser Days last year. Man that thing sounded capable. I was driving a mid 90's 2500 with the 6bt for a while and holy fxxx balls did that thing have some torque. I would love to come across one to stuff into my newly acquired fj45.... sweet dreams..

they are using the NPR motors more often

with 69rambler making them to mate to several different transmissions from toyota automatic to toyota manual to ford to chevy and even a budget adapter to get you SBC adapted for IIRC less than 700

There are about 6 4bdxt swaps going on in the diesel section right now

back when i did my first one isuzudieselswapper was the only source and back then there were only 3 maybe 4 of us with documented 4bdxt swaps on the internet.

I still dont know of any fj40 4bdxt swaps on mud other than longbow and myself. There was a video of one posted on youtube that was a non turbo 4bd1 but i'm not sure if he was a mud member or not. A green FJ IIRC.

Now they are everywhere.

If you shop around you can get the swap done for less than that of a 4bt cummins and you also have a broader rpm range not to mention quieter smoother motor.

It also responds well to added boost.

I did the fj40 cummins 6bt first gen conversions.... All About Transmissions in Ventura California did the conversion start to finish!!!! It is one hell of a beast!! A large job, lots of parts in the gear train were changed to make the job complete and strong for the cummins 6bt!!! I have had it on the road for two weeks now, it is my daily driver. I am getting @ 24 mpg out of it, tons of power and loads of torque!! I have had several cruisers with every different engine combo out there and this takes the cake... This conversion is not for the weak at heart conversion guy, budget was a lot, but worth a lot more!! Priceless!! Want to build another just like it for my 14 year old son so it is ready for him to drive. My truck is a 75 fj40 and I wanted the 6bt cummins , NV4500, bolt yoke shaft tcase, currie hi9" ford rear end, for pinion height. All About Transmissions Did fuel pin and 366 gov spring inside fuel pump!! This truck is amazing and fun!!!

Here's some quick pix nothing special from my front yard right now!! New location of shifter and engine all completed and running!!! Awesome machine!! Can't say enough about it!! This is my forth cruiser in 20 years, and by far the best!!

Nice installation. 205 case? Stock front axle? How does it feel with the weight up front? Sorry about all the questions...

Feels better going down road, I used a late model aluminum t'case for best fit and weight.... I know I added a lot of weight but don't see the benefits of 205s not enough reduction for weight and size!!! I love the truck yes stock axle obviously spring over shackle reversal for pan clearance on 6bt!!! Lots of fun to drive love cummins and love cruisers so had to build a dream!!!! Now living it!!

Front to back is full but side to side looks like more room than factory, gonna start another one soon and I will picture everything on it !! This one I just focused on getting it completed and forgot a lot of photos!!
