I agree, there are compromises tho. The truck is currently leveled at ride height and the goal was to maximize ground clearance while protecting the bottom of the winch. Warn doesn’t give those 16.5’s away 🤣

Bottom of the bumper is 27.75” off the ground

I believe my 40 is only about 22” or so off the ground. Granted it’s a bit shorter (sucked into the body) but not much. I’ve only tagged the bottom if that one once, on a hardcore Rubicon line, and I’m on 37”s

So I agree it may hamper it some but probably very seldom. And I suspect this bumper will be plenty stout if it contacts anything

Well that happened fast. Exhaust is out, engine bay is more or less stripped, goodbye 8.1

And that all happened this afternoon 🤣

Wait a sec, you're dumping the 8.1? If so, replacing it with...?
Oh no. Just goodbye and out of the truck for now. Think it’s been in there 7-8 years 🤣

Things are happening… fast

My cousin and I got roughly 75% of the cage welded with it bolted in the truck today. Him working the TIG pedal and me contorted all to hell in the cab.

Added a total of 6 cage disconnects so that the cage can actually be removed.

And it’s out, pretty easy and SO lightweight 🙄

Then stripped the dash, pedals and all the electronics hiding up under the dash. It is FAST with everything attached via a welded nutsert

I've not been around one of these before. The floor boards look wide. Looks like some comfortable foot room.
It’s not bad for feet no, assuming you are a relatively normal sized human. The passenger side has quite a bit of room. The driver side is a LOT more cramped with all the controls and shifters. I’m 5’8”, with the seats and cage in, I have the seat as far back as possible and I’m still able to work all the pedals 😳

I made a custom transmission tunnel for my Land Cruiser, which added about 6 to 8 inches of room below the throttle pedal and it made a huge difference with comfort.

You need a tig button. Best investment I've done for tube work. No need to run a pedal all funny in weird places.

Do you have a preference on a slider vs a pressure pad type?
I’m leaning toward pressure pad but not sure I’m steady enough to really run that.

I really like my pressure pad. It was a lot easier to pick up than a slider because it was a lot more comfortable for me, but that's just preference. The new slider variation he has out may be easier to run, but the way I like to grip the torch makes the button way more stable for me.

Yes, that would be great. And I’ve blown all my spare cash on that Teraflex CRD60 build 😢

ha, i do that all the time. it was one of the eventually i'll get it for me, but it's now one of those things that i don't know how I would live without it now.

@WesternCruiser joined me this week from AK for a little fab thrash fest.

Corrected a bunch of sheet metal, did Aerocatch hood latches, plumbing work, fabbed both sliders and pulled it all apart again

Sliders turned out REALLY nice and will double as cage tie-ins

With the cab off, I can finally access all the spots I couldn’t before. Need to fix the hole in the cab that rusted out from the M16 rifle mounts but first it needed another little blast in the driveway
