I agree, there are compromises tho. The truck is currently leveled at ride height and the goal was to maximize ground clearance while protecting the bottom of the winch. Warn doesn’t give those 16.5’s away 
Bottom of the bumper is 27.75” off the ground
I believe my 40 is only about 22” or so off the ground. Granted it’s a bit shorter (sucked into the body) but not much. I’ve only tagged the bottom if that one once, on a hardcore Rubicon line, and I’m on 37”s
So I agree it may hamper it some but probably very seldom. And I suspect this bumper will be plenty stout if it contacts anything
