Hey guy's. I'm trying to get my 68 on the road finally but I'm having a little trouble with the clutch hydraulics. Everything needs to be replaced and nothing is available. What have you guy's done for an upgrade on the early pig's. I've found the upgrade for the 40 and if I have to I'll build a new hard line. Thanks for any advise:beer: Dave.

Well, Pighead sees one problem...you saying you have a '68 Pig....ain't no such thing.
Pighead is wrong? What's the frame number?
(Pighead is very ready to be wrong.)

I bolted a 73 Master to the fire wall and used the early linkage. Now I just need the hose and a slave. The master seems to work well.

The VIN is F55-11106. What year is it?

Yup, that's a '68...and under 12 thousand, means you should have the front apron-mounted lights instead of the fender mounts....

Like these.

Ain't it cool!!!!!!!

Edit: I did have some trouble with my slave....PO had 40 lines so after some aggravation I got the right cylinder from TPI

TPI is www.tpi4x4.com which is a parts place in Tennessee which I use when I can get something that I don't want to go through SOR (Specter Off Road). Unfortunately they don't carry a lot of 55 stuff. Will look and see if I still have the box with the part number but it seemed to a 73-74 slave cylinder that worked for me. For yours? God it seems like each one of these things have their own varied and strange story.

I really like your rig. So rare and cool. And yes, there will be GREAT demand for many photos of your rig ( motor/interior/rear etc) from some of the other pig owners in the very near future.

I won the ebay auction 3.5yrs ago for the 68 while attending my first Surf-n-turf. My wife calls me at the beach and says I won a FJ55 grille for $500 bucks. She asked what makes a FJ55 grille worth $500? I replied "it comes with a free complete FJ55". The piggy had been sitting since '83. I had to literally dig it free from the hill side to load it on the trailer. I removed 18lbs of varmint poop from the interior. Spent 2 weeks carefully unlocking the frozen engine. I have worked on and off until now bringing her back to life mechanically. Now I have decided the time has come for her to see the road again:steer:.

DWitcher/Elbigsam,

What have you guys got for front seat belts? I have to pick up my rig tomorrow and I don't have any. Is yours lap belts or is the shoulder harness avail. that early? Didn't mean to hi-jack. PM me if you want this thread to stay pure clutch. Thanks, Dave

Mine are all lap belt. I have no problem with any hi-jacking. The more posting here the more info we can share on the early stuff:beer:

Sweet. Love the early turn signals. What ever you do don't mod them. Try to keep them original. If not send them to me. I'd love to try to reproduce the lenses.

If your serious about doing a repop on the lenses, I could send you one. I have plans to keep this 68 original as possible.

Yup, that's a '68...and under 12 thousand, means you should have the front apron-mounted lights instead of the fender mounts....

Mine is FJ55-10816; does that mean mine is a '68 also? It has those same type side lights. Sorry for the highjack....
