I just won this and bring a trailer. Paid 25,000. I tried to put this bed on which should fit but it doesn’t. I think I have the wrong frame. I’m not gonna move the axle. I’m not gonna cut the bed up. I think I might just go with a utility flatbed. Anybody else have any ideas?

I just realized I put this in the wrong forum. Anyway, the bed is a sliced up Ford courier for the original bed and the replacement was just a 1965 short wheelbase bed.

Yeah no taillights in the bed, just the rear frame cross member. Bed is longer than removeable top bed.

Wow!! All these years, have never seen this!! Must have been a really short run/ transition year? Dont see a spare tire rack under the bed? Very curious!!!
Thats my first FJ45, it's a 1964 with a vin in the early 15000's. I bought it pre internet so I didn't know much about SWB Cruisers and about the spare tire carrier. It was probably there when i bought the truck but didn't realize what it was. It has a smooth roof also, no ribs.
According to SOR frame chart it's a late 63 build.

It’s amazing to think of all these subtle variations in these early rigs and how Toyota was rolling each change into its production line. I’m familiar with the global push for Japanese quality back in the day by the likes of Demming, et al, but it’s hard to imagine how this sort of apparent real-time production line variance supported that.
