Long time listener, first time caller. This is my 5th Cruiser, but my first 60. I’ve had 2 80s an 81 and a 40. Always loved the styling of the 60s, but they always seemed to be out of reach. While acquiring my HDJ81 I realized I was in the realm of what a decent 60 would cost. The 81 was great, but I still found myself looking at 60s. Fast forward, I found this beauty in Amarillo. Needs a little TLC but she’s VERY clean.

1. Year: Mid-1980's 😂... Originally an '86 HJ60, but now with '87 12H-T motor from an HJ61, and an '85 frame, and '83 body, both from FJ60's
2. Owned by:
Tom H., in western Oregon
3. Name: Beastly_the_HJ60 (also on Insta)
4. Odo: ~530,000 km's (at least on the driveline, the only remaining original parts from the '86 HJ60 source vehicle)... and about 250K km's on the motor
5. Mod's: 12H-T turbo-diesel replacing original 2H diesel, OME 2.5" lift on heavy-duty springs, ARB rear air-locker and onboard compressor, custom-made rock-rails/sliders, "built not bought" rear swing-out for tire and jack, 33" BFG KO2's, SmittyBilt roof-rack (sometimes) with spotties all four corners, Hella spotties/fogs up front, back-up camera to the dash, and has run most of its life on biodiesel or renewable diesel (both nearly fossil-fuel free)
6. Uses: Extended solo, off-road, back country trekking/camping/hiking adventures (now called overlanding, but I was doing it way before that), family trips to the "wild" (Christmas trees, waterfall hunting, pop-up trailer camping, beach and dune cruising), some daily driving and being a "truck" for the family or friends.
7. Photo: Here's Beastly!...

An informal registry for FJ60’s, BJ60’s, and HJ60’s of all types – yes. 61’s and 62’s included… This will be a sticky thread.

Rules of order – ONLY ONE post per vehicle – no comments on the thread or you will have me editing – which resembles work, to which I am averse.

What I would like you all to post… and please keep it brief, OK?

Hi! I just bought this baby and its my first 4x4 with attended use only at work and offroad. It spent 10 years in a barn but was welded back to life. Lift is 2-4" below what it has been, therefore I immediately ordered a full EMU-kit for the front. Propably end up doing rear end also. Ridicuously expensive low maintenance car 🙂

1. Year and model of vehicle: 1982 HJ60 manual 24 volt spec
2. Name of owner: Antti
3. Name of vehicle (optional): Many names but 'Crawler' is beginning to settle.
4. Mileage on the truck odometer: Past 600000 km, some 400000? miles
5. Road legal improvements: Unidentified large Garrett /w wastegate @0,5 bar, 33" tyres, some lift and PTO winch (gone). 3 seats and a fixed vise (local vehicle tax peculiarities). Rear with helper coil springs. 2H also has dump valve and custom exhaust, internals unknown. Pulls great, too much? 😅
6. How you use the truck: For working and hunting, hauling tools and stuff. Some adventures will propably appear. I'll put in some new gauges, glow plugs, injectors and re-do some electrics. Is this a keeper I don't know, but its so much fun...☺️
7. Why is the stock low gear always too fast........
